Chris mentioned in giving him access to the Team Area…would it be a good idea? I am all up for it. Your thoughts and place your vote
Chris here…
First of all, can I say I think making this a poll is an excellent idea! ![]()
I vote a resounding “Yes” - Larry is a friend of Celesta’s, and the fact that he has chosen to take a closer look at this site (indeed, his interaction with many TCats sites over the years) is something that strikes a satisfying chord with me. Plus, it’s worth noting that Larry has already contributed to this site, via the “message from Lion-O” on the front page. ![]()
Let’s face it - without Larry’s inspiring portrayal of Lion-O in the cartoon, this site and ThunderFandom in general probably wouldn’t exist! ![]()
Take care… ![]()
I think you’d need to be 100% certain that it is indeed Larry before allowing that user to see all our discussions.
However saying that I’m still not so sure that Larry needs access to the team area. I mean face it, we have our ups and downs every so often so I’m not sure it would be wise for anyone outside the team to know about any arguments. EOT.net might like to wash their dirty laundry in view of others, but I don’t think we should.
I don’t think any outsiders who are not on the team should have access here. In my opinion it defeats the cause of this forum. I mean Graig (Lord Anubis) has donated images for the site, but does he have access here?
I don’t mind what you guys decide, but just be aware of what I’ve said above.
Chris here…
Well, MannyC has used his admin status to confirm that this user has signed up using Larry’s known e-mail address - whilst I’m sure these things can be hacked, given the fact that Celesta is likely to have told him about this site, I’m reasonably confident that it’s Larry. ![]()
As ever, Neil, you make very valid points - my sole reason for suggesting granting Larry access to the team area would be as a mark of respect to him, and I am going to stick my neck out and say that there’s a big difference between someone like Craig and someone like Larry Kenney!
Obviously for someone who’s just donated images to the site, of course they shouldn’t have access to the team area - Purrsia’s just donated a large number of scans to the Comic Section, but I think we can all agree that for her to have access to the team area would be a no go! ![]()
Like I said in another thread, I’ve no strong opinions - I think it would be a nice mark of respect to Larry, but at the same time I understand concerns about us being able to speak freely on these Boards. I voted “Yes”, but am happy to go along with a majority! ![]()

Chris, your missing my point here. The team forum is meant for site discussion amongst the team. I have a lot of respect for Larry, but I don’t see how not giving him access disrespects him. Larry is not a team member of the site and has not worked on any site features other than the welcome message.
Craig has provided pictures and info on a lot of merchandise stuff, but I’m not saying he should be given access here, I’m just trying to say it defeats the purpose of this forum if anyone not working on the site has access. Yes I would prefer to talk freely here without re-checking what I say before posting. In my opinion it just makes things more awkward.
Chris here…
LOL, I’ve got to be honest and say that I think you’re actually missing my point Neil!
I’m not suggesting for a second that not providing Larry with access to the team area is disrespectful - what I said was, I think providing him with access to this area would be a nice way to acknowledge his contribution to the property and show our appreciation to him as fans. ![]()
If he’d asked for access to the team area (which he wouldn’t) and we denied it, possibly that could be disrespectful - but, there’s no way that not offering him access would be disrespectful. ![]()
Now I am confused, as I thought that was what I actually said:
Which is a fair comment!
And, one that should definitely be taken into consideration before making a decision, or indeed before voting in this poll. Like I said, I voted “Yes” but I’m happy to go along with a majority ruling! ![]()

Seems like this thread has turned into something different than i expected. Although i wouldnt mind giving Larry access to see what we are working on I dont see anything good coming out of it other than thank you. Larry hasnt posted yet and i believe as busy as he is I dont think he would take enough time to go thru all the things we are working on. Nice thought to give him access but its perhaps not needed. Sometimes like Neil said we speak freely here and I dont think we need someone looking over to see what we are rambling about ![]()
