A team meeting - let's do this!

Gang, let’s put our heads together on an online chat soon… it’s been ages since we’ve had a good pow wow about the site, our plans etc. and there is lots of exciting stuff underway so let’s do this.

I’m suggesting two possible days: Sat or Sun this weekend (17 or 18 April) and am suggesting we use Skype for the chat.

How are the following times?

12 noon EST on either day (9AM PST, 5PM BST)
1PM EST (10AM PST, 6PM BST)
3PM EST (12 noon PST, 9PM BST)

Chris here…

Hey Mark, for once I can actually do any of those times on either of those days - assuming BST means “UK time” anyway! The last option is the best one for me, but can work around what works best for the rest of you!

Take care…

BST is british summer time according to google!

So far we have Chris and Nick ready to meet on either Saturday or Sunday… so far all three of us are pretty open to whatever time slot works best.

Let’s make the most of this guys… who else can join?

UPDATE: We’ve chosen to hold the meeting at 3PM EST (8PM BST). So far Nick, Chris and I will be attending, hope that more of the gang can make it. We’ll be doing it via Skype so looking forward to catching up!

Hey Guys,

Unfortunately I don’t think I can make this weekends chat. I just wanted to acknowledge the email Mark sent out and apologise.

I hope everything goes well.. and I hope to be working on some TC related artwork sometime soon

I’ll try to make it

Chris here…

On which day, Mark? I am currently still free at that time on both the Saturday or Sunday, but obviously need to know the day, LOL!

Great that we’ve got yourself, Nick, Neil and me lined up for it - however, I am going to be honest and say that IMO the biggest agenda for this site at the moment is the site redesign / relaunch, and so to talk about that in any detail we really need MannyF to be there. It will still be awesome to catch up, but IMO (and with no offence meant to any other members of the team) for the meeting to achieve anything really concrete, MannyF’s presence is needed.

Take care…

Sunday Chris, mentioned on Facebook that if we don’t get the rest of the team on for the chat that we can at least cover plans for the podcast.

Chris here…

Sorry Mark, I normally get an e-mail when somebody replies to a “PM thread” on Facebook but for some reason I didn’t get that one, or Nick’s reply! :frowning:

Anyway, yep, that sounds OK, looking forward to catching up with you guys tomorrow!

Take care…

Sorry for not attending or replying back to any messages regarding the meeting, especially to Mark. I’d say I was busy, but that probably wouldn’t make things better. Yes, I posted a Facebook status during the meeting, but I was not in front of my own computer and did not have time to chime in via Skype as the computer did not have it installed.

Anyhow, is it possible to have a meeting, in which everyone confirms their attendance? Even if it is a month from now, the only way this is going to work is if everyone is there. I know it is very difficult to get everyone together, but if one person can fit the meeting into their busy schedules, I think everyone should at least attempt to make it.

That being said, perhaps late May would be enough time to fit in the meeting? That way, we all have time to prepare for it.

Weekends are best for me personally as well as weekday mornings (PST).

I really think we owe it to ourselves (and to the site) to find someway to attend the meeting. If we want to really push the site to the next level, attending this meeting will be a must.

I have two weddings to attend, closing escrow on a new townhouse, and planning three birthdays in May…so if I’m committed to the meeting, I think we all should.

Chris here…

I completely agree with this in principle. I think the reality is that, for all of us, as we’ve grown older the site is forced, not necessarily through choice but through life in general, to take a back seat. However, I definitely think that those of us who’ve been with the site for a long time owe it to the site and to each other to at least say whether or not we can make a team meeting, so, basically I agree with you!

When Mark & I logged on to Skype for the last team meeting, one of my suggestions to him was to try and shoot for a team meeting date further away in the future - say, 4 or 5 weeks away. In that way, there would be much more chance of getting to team members before anything makes its way into their diaries and they can try and schedule around it. So, I’d definitely be on board for trying to make this work in this way!

With those of us who are left on the team, I have to say here I don’t think anybody isn’t committed to the concept of having a team meeting, otherwise we wouldn’t all keep talking about it, LOL! I think the reality is what I stated above - that it is a nightmare to try and get people who all have different lives, live in different countries and in different timezones, to all be able to be online at the same time. It was tricky 5 years ago when we were all younger, it’s even harder now we’re turning into a team of old men! (j/k!)

All I can say is that I am definitely committed to attending a team meeting, and if it can be arranged for a time and date when I don’t already have a pre-existing commitment, then (pending a disaster) I will definitely be there!

Take care…

I can only apologise profusely and just honestly say that I completely forgot - that particular day was very miserable and it’d just strayed from my mind. Again, very sorry. I’ll be happy to fit this in any date and time you have - and I’ll set aside anything else for it.
