I just have a question for the board…
This board mentions characters called Warrior Women. I have never seen the original series before and would like to ask as to how they were depicted in the original series(ie. costumes, skin color, overall character design).
In the original series, the Warrior Maidens were a town of women who lived in Treetop Kingdom (their town was in the forest, in the top of the trees), and were based on the Amazons from Greek mythology, so they wore rustic clothes, presumibly made out of fur. They used bows and arrows in combat.
Although it was a whole town, only 2 of them appeared in the show regularly (but in some eps, some others were shown in the background): their queen Willa and her younger sister Nayda (you can look up for them in Google images); coincidentally they appeared in many eps that turnd around Tygra (“Trouble with Time”, “Garden of Delights”, “Fireballs from Plun-Darr”, “Out of Sight”) but were present in some others as well.

Their official name was Warrior Maidens. Think Xena Warrior Princess.
If these warrior maidens are brought back, would this board prefer them to be kept as they were(all original designs maintained) or would a complete remake of their origins, and designs be well received?
I have a few ideas I would like to share, but I just want to gouge public opinion first before saying anything loud.
A question about the Warrior Women- Redesign
I’ve noticed this forum mentions characters called the warrior maidens several times, and have even mentioned a desire to return them to the new series.
Would this board like the producers to maintain the original look, origin and character creations for the maidens, or would a redesign be more well received?
I have some ideas of my own I would like to share, although I wish to gouge the board’s opinions before saying anything further.
By all means share. I would prefer they kept them human but I could see them also being a rogue band of female ThunderCats.

Idea No 1:
The warrior maidens are the members(nuns) of a martial arts sect that specialises in mutiple styles of combat(archery, kung fu, swordfighting, spear and polearm fighting, throwing knives etc.) They operate from a Chinese-style monastery deep in the forested mountains, and serve as the protectors of the local region and gather knowledge as scholars. They are led by the young Abbess Willa and her sister Nayda, who currently lead the sect per the will of their late leader. However, their leadership is challenged by the senior nuns of the sect, who believe an older, more experienced sister to be more suitable as head of the sect.
A possible plot could involve a group of these nuns getting the lizards to help them overthrow the sisters, and in exchange they give the lizards territorial concessions for them to set up bases, mine resources etc. The sisters oppose the plan since the lizards would be displacing the people living in those concession areas. And then the Cats step in…

Yes the deadly string musical instrument(ie the guqin-wikipedia it up) that can confuse enemies and send out energy waves is a staple of Chinese kung fu flicks. Supposedly the martial artist uses his inner energy(ki) to make their music deadly to others, as seen in the Kung Fu Hustle clip.
I would prefer them as human and the designs to be similar to the originals just with young feminine voices as oposed to sounding like old hollywood actresses(like the original) or butch shehulks.
I would prefer the Warrior Maidens to be more like they were in the original series. But it would be kinda cool if some other group of characters our heroes meet were inspired by the culture(s) you suggest. I just think it would be too big a change for the Warrior Maidens.
I would like to see them as an isolated society, not trusting outsiders. I don’t mind it being somewhat monastic, but would prefer as more primitive. Part of the story could be them being in trouble and a rift forming on whether to seek outside help.
I wouldn’t want much more than an episode, maybe two, of them though. Wouldn’t want them to take away too much focus off the Thundercats themselves.
I would like to see more of the Treetop Kingdom. Maybe something that we would usually think as elvish. A village in the leaves that is one with nature. I’d want to keep the maidens as archers and hunters that know all the ins and outs and dangers of the woods.
Interesting - and quite radical - re-imagining of the Warrior Maidens! It would be interesting if they used that concept, provided the show uses them. They could probably make them a little like the Kyoshi Warriors from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Although I’m still kind of partial to the whole Amazon warriors look as established on the OS.
So far, though, we haven’t seen any evidence of humans on Third Earth in this version of the series. And something tells me that may be deliberate on the part of the showrunners. I get the feeling that when we finally do see humans, it’s going to be part of a massive bombshell revelation.

On a more comedic note:
They could have one of the maidens who is super ugly and looks like a man in women’s clothing(but the maiden has a beautiful girl’s voice) and proceeds to aggresively flirt with Panthro(because she only likes big strong types-or should it be Tigra?) to the disgust of everyone else.

On a side note, the maidens might look humanoid, but not necessarily human.(ie. they have pallid white skin, purple irises, red lips, etc.)
If they did make the warrior maidens like the kyoshi warriors then I would stop watching the show. The show is “Thundercats” not “Avatar the last airbender the sequel”. The only asian theme area I would care to see is Hachiman’s land/kingdom/world and Maybe Ratar-O.
I remember seeing some elephants in Thunder Thursdays that were dressed similar to Asian monks. Come to think of it I believe they’re the only characters previewed in TT that we haven’t seen yet, so we might see them soon.
I hope that, if the WM make an appearence, they stay similar to the original: amazons that live in trees and know the forest as the palm of their own hands.
I’d really hate to see the Warrior Maidens change too much. I’d really like to see this shows take on the Treetop Kingdom, it would probably look amazing.
I suppose the jungle women idea isn’t too bad though. Do you think they will ever sentence the men to death by snu snu?
