A discussion about the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise in general. Who hasn’t seen Freddy kill Johnny Depp in the original movie?
And of course in 2010, it recently got remade. Any thoughts on the franchise as a whole? Anyone?
Was great for sleepover movie marathons when I was young, we thought they were hilarious.
Which one did you like? Or at least what was the funniest if you don’t mind me asking?
Oh lord, you’re asking me to reach way back in my memory, haven’t watched those in years. From 5 on were the funniest, but I’d have to see if Netflix has them on instant stream and watch them again.
In my mind Nightmare on Elm Street 3 was the only one really worth watching.
You know, of all the sequels; it’s Part 2 I want to see bashed by The Nostalgia Critic. The thing is, it does not make sense. Why does Freddy want to kill people in the real world when that kills him?
If you’re looking for logic, you’re watching the wrong movies.
I understand the rest, it’s part two that I don’t get.
I’ll have to go back and watch, but a lot of series that weren’t intended to be series to start with get a bit funky with the sequel.
Well that’s what happens when a studio starts a franchise.
But what happened with Elm Street is not as bad as what happened to Highlander which is for another thread.
Mayhaps, but Highlander had better eye candy.
But at least the NOES sequels were easy to follow. Okay, well Freddy’s Dead raises some questions but it’s one of my guilty pleasures, it’s entertaining.
Freddy was dead from the start, the kids’ parents had killed him for his during life crimes.
In slasher films, i am a huge fan of Michael Myers and the Halloween Series.
Debra Hill and John Carpenter set the scene for the horror genre to evolve into what is today.
Reach farther back, think more along the lines of the first version of I Spit on Your Grave.
The last NOE did something that none of the other movies did in the past. The movie made it seem for a short while that Freddy was wrongfully accused and killed.
When i saw it, Freddy came across as someone innocent but the twist at the end was unbelievable. I think Freddy in the last movie was more twisted than any other versions in the past

That I understand. I was referring to Freddy’s Dead, the sixth film; the one with the Nintendo death scene. And by questions, I mean; how did Freddy kill all but one kid and what happened to Alice and Jacob.
That’s basically it. But I digress, it’s still fun.
If memory serves (on occasion and at its whim) at least one ALWAYS lives to the end of the movie.
Does anyone know if the NOES movies will get released on Bluray…I know the first and last were released but what about the others
