Anyone have a hi-res pic of a moc 8-back Mumm-Ra? I need to see the figure in great detail, but MOC to be sure its an 8-back. I think there is a difference in the sculpt of the 8-back Mumm-Ra and the later versions. Thanks!

Yah, tried that.. picture became blurry, but I could tell that this isn’t the Mumm-Ra I was hoping to see on a 8 back… I’m trying to find out where a particular Mumm-Ra variant belongs in the production time-line.. Mannyscollectibles started a thread about it back in '07:

The Mumm-Ra I’m talking about has les details sculpted on the snakes on its chest, the eyes are smaller, the bottom of the feet are different (see Mannyscollectibles’ picture) and even the green skinn color is darker.
I have over 50 loose Mumm-Ra figures, and only two of those have the characteristics mentioned above..

I also have a sort of hybrid Mumm-Ra. It has the colors of the “odd” Mumm-Ra, but normal sized eyes and details. Weird thing is the text on the bottom of the feet is also the wrong way up:

Very interesting - One of my long term projects is to build a database that folks could type in what the bottoms of each figures feet say, not that it would offer insight other than to inform how many were exactly the same…
As far as the variations go, there are several trains of thought.

that the more detailed figure was part of the earliest of the 8 Backs, there are very distinct differences in these figures from the later figures. (an example of this would be the red Monkian mace chain or the single Cheetara and Tygra), this is the theory i would be most likely to believe.

that all 8 Backs had the detailed feet while all others lacked the details.

specifically the 3527 “energizer” Mumm-Ra had these feet, whil no others did.
I will be able to verify some of these further when i get home and can actually look at my 8 Back Mumm-Ra
My theory was always that the less sharp Mumm-Ras were released earlier than more detailed figures. It is typical for an older figure to have a rougher look to them while later figures had more detail. A good example was the 8 back Mummras that came with the battery offer. Those had rough looking feet.
I believe this can be confirmed if you look at the feet of an 8 back Lion-O compared to a2nd and 3rd edition. Perhaps someone can make the comparison on those and post the results
