Yeah I’m not keen on these 6" figures 
I just don’t like the angry face Lion-O, which is also what put me off the large scale statue.
Mumm-Ra looks quite bad, especially with no cape. I think I will pick up the Mezco Mumm-Ra, as I think that is much nicer and might fit in with the scale of the 8" Bandai Lion-O (which I love!)

No way! The lack of paint on the joints was brought up in the interview and they said that they’ll fix it. :eek:
His legs seem a bit disproportionate to his body. On the plus side though the angry face isn’t as bad as I thought.
I can live with the screws, but Bandai not fixing those foot joints is just inexcusable. :rolleyes:
They just don’t listen to fans and they don’t read forums. Bandai completely ignored ThunderCon as well.
They are 100% business, 0% communication… the problem is that business can turn really bad when you’re snobbish about the client.
It’s like they only released them in 6" so they can be in the same scale with MOTUC. I’ll buy them just to support the franchise but they don’t seem worth displaying.

You hit the nail on the head with your comment on how Bandai does not listen to their customers. Two years ago, when I did a semester abroad in Japan to study Akira Kurosawa’s films, I met a business student at the University of Tokyo who worked in Bandai’s marketing department. He and I became friends and still talk frequently. Anyway, he now works in the division of Bandai’s marketing department that handles the USA market. Having worked with Bandai for eight years, I was surprised when he told me that he had never once read a suggestion or comment from an actual customer. Hopefully, Bandai will take the time to look over what the buying public has to say so these flaws will not appear in future figures.

Well, they listened to some customers and stopped 8 inch as a retail scale.

I’m not quite sure if they actually listened to customers or someone inside Bandai just came up with the idea of releasing the line in 6" so that collectors can display them next to other toylines, as this is pretty much a standard nowadays.
Moreover, Bandai tends to release everything in a ridiculous amount of variations. My little sister is playing with Power Rangers figures and one season/toyline had five size variations of the same characters, let along numerous updates with special weapons and other features!
So they naturally tend to release the same thing in every possible size in less than average quality instead of few lines with better sculpts, while the number of different characters (villains in the case of Power Rangers) remains quite low.
It’s not Bandai to blame or anyone else actually for that. The exact same thing happens with Banpresto (now acquired by Bandai) and Takara-Tomy toys, so I suppose that it’s the way it goes in Japan. The Japanese have a tendency to be very picky about the size of things they collect, therefore figures need keep everybody happy.
I said it several times and I’ll say it again: The Four Horsemen should have been hired to do the sculpts. The Masters of the Universe Classics line is achieving perfection, while Bandai’s attempt looks completely bland and “made for marketing”.
Bandai never listens to customers. Just look at how horribly they handle the Ben 10 line nowadays and have handled the Power Rangers line from the get go.
I personally don’t mind size variations at all. It adds a certain charm to a toy collection in my opinion. Plus it can help portray different aspects or characteristics of a character. (Yet when they starting coming up with crap that isn’t in the show, that’s unforgiveable.)
But I agree, it hinders the chances of other characters being produced. It took them years to release a couple of long running Ben 10 characters, and there are still some, important ones to the show I might add, that haven’t seen release.
I wasn’t aware of that aspect of the Japanese Toy Industry, which is heaven compared to how horribly it’s handled in America. But I beg to differ (to an extent as I don’t live there), when you’ve seen various toy companies in America horribly handle their product lines and you find yourself constantly importing from Japan and feel you receive better quality from those overseas products, there has to be something wrong with the companies back home.
Spin Master, Jakks Pacific, Hasbro, Mattel and Bandai are all horrible. They don’t listen to their customers, and are utterly disorganized with their production lines and have a tendency to be inconsistent with everything.
As someone who’s bought many of the hotselling toys, Pokemon, Bakugan, Beyblade, Toy Story, Mario ect from America, it boggles my mind on some of the decisions they make product wise.
Yet when I resort to importing from their Japan equivalents the results are of a much higher caliber. And most of this produced by Banpresto and/or Takara-Tomy.
On the thread topic itself. This is the first time I’m actually dissapointed in Bandai America on the ThunderCats toys. I was willing to shrug of Mumm-Ra no having a cape, but now I see pictures of this Lion-O figure. Ugh. His legs are to short and the torso joint looks weird. I didn’t care about the face, I actually liked that it was such a radically different expression from what was expected (not the I like it, just didn’t mind it). But it looks retarted when one takes notice of the proportions of the figure.
I knew it was eventually going to happen, Bandai going rotten on the TCats toys. Can this be a sign of the apocalypse coming sooner than later? I hope not.
Amanda Burns Bandai Thundercats brand manager said paraphrasing. The 8" line will continue into 2012 with Cheetara with her wind swept poseable hair.

He looks identical in the sculpt and generall design to the 8’’ Lion-O with the difference that this one is much-much worse. I don’t know why they went on making these 6’’ figs.
I already have the 8 inch figure, and I’m not sure I’m interested in getting the same figure again, but smalller with an ugly head.
having the figure in my hands, i like it much better than the 8in figure. he doesnt have shiny plastic like the 8in figure, which makes a big difference visually.
he lost the joint at the base of the neck, and the wrists are now ball/socket joints instead of disk/post joints, but the mid torso joint actually works much better than the 8in version
he comes with 2 right and 2 left hands (whereas the 8in only came with 1 left hand)
he also fits in very well with DCUC figures, for those that also collect that line. the sculpts are very similar and he is close in size
the only drawback to the figure is the angry face, which ended up not being that big of a problem for me once i had the figure open
Can you show him next to the icon heroes statue?
Are the heads about the same size?
