Here’s a list of what I"m selling off. I’m only selling to help raise money for some very rare collectables I’ve located. What doesn’t sell, I’ll be keeping. I don’t have any prices set for these. I"m taking offers. If you’re interested, make an offer and I’ll be blunt but simple with a yes or sorry I can’t sell for that. I will honor the First offer I accept, even if a higher offer comes in afterwards. I’m not trying to start a bidding war, just raise some quick money.

Wow a nice collection but I feel that you may not be genuine as I could pay you and never get my item and I would not be protected from eBay or paypal.

We keep finding fake sellers so I am especially wary.

Maybe I’d suggest with an offer you put it on eBay so the buyer gets the protection-just incase.

Actually, to be fair, all of this guy’s Thundercats are on eBay currently–he’s got over 1,000 feedback and is 100%.

As you said, it’s a nice collection, but the prices I can’t justify. The one thing I hate about the AFA system is that people who get their figures graded practically feel obligated to ask for inordinate prices.

With all due respect to the seller–he has some nice stuff and he’s entitled to ask whatever he wants–but prices like $200 for a mail-away Mumm-Ra (you can get a MISB one for $10-$20 without the AFA case…I just did), or $1,300 for a Tygra + Wilykat…again, I’m sure they’re in nice condition, but those prices are excessive, IMO. For $1,300, a person could have a nice set of carded Thundercats, just without the AFA brand label.

I’d love to pick up the guy’s Bengali, but $600…it’s not that I can’t afford it. It’s that I can’t justify it.

But more power to him. Hope his deals all work out.

I see Gingaio already defended his feedback and credibility but I wanted to add the same. He is pretty much a local guy and we’ve talked some numbers and while I can’t buy his figures for the price he wants, in a good market those prices aren’t bad. Unfortunately in the current climate I would have to sell my ungraded figures for less than half, possibly a third of the purchase price to make it happen. His figures are nicer, especially the Pumyra and Grune at 85’s but the cost difference outweighs the benefit for me. I could afford to pick up a couple of them but I would want all the 8 backs or all the new Thundarians and I can’t swing that. But anyone who can would be getting some great stuff and I’m sure long-term they will be worth it.
I found out AFA is only about 6 hours south from me. I’m kicking around dropping some things off and vacationing and picking up on the way back later this summer. I still just don’t know if I trust other people with my stuff, especially the things I can’t replace!

First off, Thanks for defending my credibility.
As for prices, thats why I put up OBO. Just ask Robimus Prime, he know what my prices really are. I’ve found that I usually sell things a little quicker by marking them up and putting OBO of them. That makes people feel like they got a better deal. For example I just sold tHE BenGali I for 400 and the guy thinks he got a pretty good deal at 200 off asking price. Now if I would of put it up there for 400, it probably still would be there.

Yes in a good market they aren’t bad at my actual selling point.The economy has a lot to due with it. Prices on a lot of things have went down due to many selling and not many buying. However just think about when all those who sold off their collection get back on their feet and start collection again. The demand won’t meet the supply and prices will climb again. How much I don’t know, but It will happen. I"ve collected for 10 years now and I’ve seen many ups and downs. AS for long term investment. If I’ve had a piece for a year, I usually have no problem selling it for at least what I paid for it. (In a good market) Lots of times I make a little and on some pieces, make quite a bit. I have quite a few Joe vehicles that have doubled and tripled in price from what I paid for them last late summer/fall. Those and my MOTU are the only things not for sale. MOTU is very dear to me and the Joe vehicles are very hard to replace. Actually the only reason I’m selling off this stuff is to raise money for some very rare MOTU giftsets and multipacks. What I don’t sell I’m keeping and what I do sell, I’ll eventually replace again.

Just a little helpful advice. Ebay offers NO protection at all. The only thing they will do is suspend the account just so the seller who ripped you off can start another. The only thing ebay offers is a higher selling price for you because the seller has to pay the high fees. Paypal does offer protection, but ebay doesn’t…they just want you to think that so they get business

Ebay and Paypal Suck!

Ben-Gali at 400 was right where he had it, I’m sure he would tell anyone who asked what a fair offer would be but I don’t think it’s proper etiquette to tell. Like I said I just couldn’t spend 3 grand right now because I’m replacing windows and getting a new furnace all in the next two months so I would prefer to sell toys rather than buy right now myself lol.
Paypal does offer protection, in fact the seller is at the mercy of the buyer on items. Once someone makes a claim paypal automatically takes the amount out of your balance or charges it to your back-up credit card until it is resolved. The burden of proof then goes to the seller more or less to prove due diligence. I think it’s a totally screwed up system. But it is at least good for the buyer. Ebay takes 10-15 percent for the advertising medium, they send all disputes to paypal. Real penalties from Ebay don’t exist or else Justcotto would have been gone years ago, all Ebay cares about is turning over auctions and picking up fees. What I don’t understand is the feedback change which no longer allows sellers to give negative feedback. Both Ebay and Paypal are funding by SELLERS but the lion’s share of protection goes to the buyer. Someone mentioned that’s the great thing about the free market in this thread I think…Ebay and Paypal both are far from it as far as I’m concerned when 15-20 percent of your GROSS SALE, not profit, goes in their pockets and they tell you to screw off when you get a complaint or feedback that isn’t really deserved. But unfortunately to paraphrase Churchill, this is the worst system ever created…except for all the others! I don’t even remember what I started to post about before my little rant, I’ll think of it later…lol

Oh yeah, AFA grading…that’s what I wanted to talk about. I’m seriously considering this August getting top items in my collection graded, including the Laser Sabers, LL Mumm-Ra and TW Lion-O and the 8 best MOTU I have. I also want a custom case for my Eternia if it’s not more than I paid for the thing in the first place lol. But what I’m curious is if AFA grading really stacks up to value in most cases? Has anyone had the experience of selling comparable items graded and ungraded who would have data? The stuff I’m grading is PC so it really doesn’t matter much but what is PC now could be for sale years from now depending on circumstances. The reason I want to do it at all is because there are still SOME who refute the Laser Sabers so I want to get them “certified” even if the grades probably won’t break 70, I would put the Mumm-Ra around 50 and the other 2 at 60’s or 70’s. But at least then they will be part of the population report, they can even maybe be listed in price guides. I should also note for those that have said I’m not a real collector because I have my best stuff on Ebay I turned down 2500 for my Thunderwings Lion-O alone last week! I thought about it and the likelihood of replacing it just wasn’t good enough, I will either be selling all my really good Thundercats for a BIG chunk of money or keeping them all at this point.

Hey, I totally agree with you that the recent eBay policies are stacked against the sellers, and as an occasional seller, I absolutely hate them. However, as a friend of mine mentioned a while back, there’s no other service available that would allow us to dispose of tchochkes we no longer want at even a fraction of what we’d get off of eBay.

So is eBay screwing over sellers? Sure. But eBay needs buyers to generate money and knows that sellers need eBay more than it needs the sellers.

For example, I’d hate to think how crammed my house would be now with toys I no longer wanted if I wasn’t able to offload them to not only people in the US, but to buyers in South America, France, and beyond.

Yep, they are the only game in town and they know it. You could set up an Amazon store or your own URL but maybe a fraction of the people would see it. My dad and I run an ebay store and it gets 4000 hits a month and 100+ sales a month, 200 around Christmas. Meanwhile we have a physical location at a Peddlar’s Mall and it might do 30 sales a month and you can’t put high-end items there because of the fear of theft and you can’t negotiate prices with people to make sales, it’s purely retail. We used to set up at the flea markets and state fair but now that I’m working one of us would have to take vacation time, plus you have to pack all that stuff out there, build the booth and hang everything, work it 30 or 40 grueling hours then pack it all up to go home. With Ebay…you take a picture, put the thing in a box somewhere you can find it and when it sells you ship it out. No theft (though the occassional fraud case gets you) or wear and tear on your items and like you said it’s not just Louisville, KY buyers, we’ve shipped to probably 50 countries. So it’s not all bad. And without Ebay no way I get my collection in the shape it’s in for the cost, having to mail order would have been impossible. I even found Shenanigans toys through an Ebay auction! I guess Ebay and I have a love-hate relationship, depending what day you catch me on! lol
