The files won’t open for me - apparently I haven’t the software to support opening them, I’m told that “Windows needs to know what program created it”!
Kyle, are you able to download videos from YouTube, de-integrating them from the YouTube pages they originate from? The reason I ask is because we have been given permission by the guy who uploaded it to host on our site an ultra-rare ThunderCats Public Service Announcement, featuring unique animation and voice work from Lion-O and Snarf urging kids not to drink alcohol!
Because I’m not subscribed to YouTube I’ve had to send all messages to this guy via my friend Katy Cartee (who posts as Rainbow Brite over at the www.he-man.org forums), and despite the request I’ve sent via her, the guy has not e-mailed me his original video file as I’d asked. I think I’d be pushing my luck to pester Katy to get on this guy’s case any more, but like I say, he did send me a message via her that we can use this video for the site, so if there was a way it could be downloaded and the YouTube elements of it removed, we would be able to use it!
Kyle, would you start looking at me strangely if I said “I LOVE YOU!!!” It would be fantastic to get that added to our site - and, like I say, we do have permission to use that video!
I would add, all that’s needed for someone from here to contact the owners of any other TCats videos we may want to use is for someone to register as a YouTube user - the only reason I haven’t done it myself is because when you sign up they ask you for a post code/zip code as a mandatory field, and given that I live with my Mum & Dad I don’t feel comfortable giving out portions of our address to a site like that. But, if anyone else here is comfortable with it, that’s how to contact YouTube users!

These work great for me now - IMO, it would definitely be worth contacting the owners of these clips to see if they would allow us to use them on this site!
The reason why I never posted the link to the ThunderCats PSA clip on the main Cartoon & Comics Board here is because I was concerned about linking to a site (YouTube) that has whole ThunderCats episodes available to download - if we were able to get these clips showcased as part of our site, that would be fantastic!
On a side note, for the sticker album one, is it my imagination or is that Larry Kenney doing the voiceover?
Wow, that Panini Sticker Album ad is great! We could use that on the page that displays the actual album itself in the Merchandise area! It’s just a shame it’s slightly pixellated
As Chris knows, I have the Panini sticker album unused with no stickers applied and the poster never removed either! Even better is the fact that I have all 264 stickers as well in unapplied condition!
How hard would it be to make pages where each webpage displays a page from the sticker album and when you click in the empty spaces, a pop up window comes up displaying the sticker that belongs in that space? Though I’m guessing it would take a very long time to do, given that there are 264 stickers in total! Maybe this idea could work for just the poster?
Concerning the poster, I’d have to scan it piece by piece because it’s quite big and then it would have to be joined back together using Photoshop.
I also got my album out just now and tried scanning the cover. Unfortunately I might have a problem here because the album is a little too wide for my scanner. About 1cm got chopped off either side of the album. Unless I scan each page twice and then the chopped off bit is added using Photoshop (just like with the poster)?
As for the game, that’s the one I picked up from a charity shop the other week for 25p! It’s made by Elite Systems. So I have the insert and cassette I can scan/photograph for the site. I think it would be more cool if we got hold an emulator and copy of the game to host on the site, so people can download them and then play the game on their PC.
Cool stuff there Kyle! In particular, that Ssslithe puzzle was made by Rainbow Toys if I’m not mistaken (same UK company that distributed the LJN action figures in the UK)
Anything is possible with HTML Neil…you can make what you said with the blank gaps linking to pop up windows. As you said though it would takes ages to make over 200 of them.
I can also merge a series of panels to create full images (as in the poster and cover) so that is feasible as well.
Just so you know it will be possible to do it all in the future.
I agree, I think that’s an excellent idea to integrate that advert into the sticker album page - bear in mind that someone still needs to contact the owner of the video to make sure it’s OK to use on our site, but hopefully it’ll be cool!

That’s cool to hear Kyle about the pages. I’d like to do that suggestion for the poster. The rest of the stickers I’ll scan in batches, so about 15-20 stickers per page. But I agree that it’s something to think about later on.
That’s interesting to hear, Neil, particularly the fact that they chose those specific episodes - for me “The Crystal Queen” and “Dimension Doom” are slightly strange choices!
Quick question, Neil, when did you get the album? Bearing in mind the UK airdates, I’d be interested to know if the Anointment Trials episodes were shown in sticker form before or after the episodes debuted in the UK!
I bought this particular album off Ebay in 2001. Unfortunately there isn’t a print date listed in the album itself. It just says the copyright date of Telepictures (1986)
As for when I had it has a kid, I cannot remember that.
Let me go check the stickers themselves… mmm…the sticker backs say Panini printed them in 1986.
However the album itself is designed for sale in most English speaking territories, it has prices on the back for UK/Eire, USA, Canada and Australia. So it could have been released in 1986 in the USA and then 1989 in the UK for example. To find out it’s UK release date for sure, you would have to contact Panini UK.
It would be fantastic to get that added to our site - and, like I say, we do have permission to use that video!
