I’ve never done this before. So I was pleasantly surprised and flattered that Grizzlor asked if I wanted to head up the art awards.
Most of following categories were borrowed from Azmom’s list of 2008 (which were borrowed from Link’s 2007 list). Some stuff I tweaked, and some stuff I left out all together.
The list of nominee artists and art pieces are ones that have been selected for their entries in the year 2009. You are not limited to only those found here on the lists. If you happen to know an artist or art piece that fits the criteria of one or more categories, please feel free to nominate them by providing a url so that we, the volunteered staff, may check up on their validity.
To keep anonymity, please pm me on here or email me with any nomination at jstonewade@yahoo.com. You may nominate yourself, but to be fair, please also nominate some one else as well.
Deadlines for nominating & voting are as follows…
nomination deadline = wednesday march 10
voting begins = monday march 15
voting ends = wednesday march 24
results shown = (hopefully) wednesday march 31

Artist of the Decade
The best artist of 2000 - 2009. Any past Artist of the Year winners from 2000 - 2008 will be automatically included in this category. Anyone who is nominated in any of the other current 2009 categories will be automatically put into this category as well.
Best New Artist
The best new artist whose works emerged in 2009 and had no previous years’ works.
Most Improved Artist
This award is given for an artist that has improved in their art skills over the past year in 2009.
Best Digital Artist
This award is given to the artist with the best talent of digital means in either 2D or 3D programs, example: use of art programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Wacom Digital Tablet and Pen, Maya, etc.
Best Traditional 2D Artist
This award is given to the artist with the best talent of traditional hand-drawn means, such as graphite, pen and ink, colored pencils, paints, etc. No use of art programs are allowed in this award.
Best Traditional 3D Artist
This award is given to the artist that works in 3d media, such as clay, stone, wax, wire, sculpty, etc. This would also include custom made action figures.
Best Multi-Media Artist
This award is given to the artist that used both digital and traditional means in their work, example: drawing in pencil & ink then colorizing in Adobe Photoshop.
Most Unique Style
This award is given to the artist with the most unique style of art.
Best Comical Piece
This award is given to the funniest piece of art made in 2009. It can be hand drawn, it can be digitally draw, or both. It may be several paneled pics on “ONE” page if it is a comic or just one picture.
Best Art Piece of the Decade
This award is given to the most outstanding piece of art that showcased The Thundercats in 2000 - 2009. It can be hand drawn, digitally draw, or both, and can be a 3D piece.
