I guess it’s about time for the old fandom awards group to go active again. This is the time of year we hash out who wants to volunteer for what, modify any rules or procedures, and discuss other related topics before nominations start in January (hopefully).

bumping out of desperation
We still need some help at the fandom awards. We need someone to go around the boards and groups that are active - a few times during the process - to remind people to stop by and take part and/or announce results to garner publicity/excitement for the awards as they progress. That’s a pretty simple job and practically anyone could do it (just write one message and copy and paste it - there’s not that many active boards either, so I can’t see the task being too daunting), so please come to the group to learn more and volunteer.
We also need someone to run the fan site category - decide what awards to pass out, the criteria to win them, make eligibility lists to make nominations smoother, and monitor the noms as they come in to be sure people are nominating things that qualify. Bit more involved than the advert job, but someone needs to do it 
There’s scads of files from last year to guide you so please consider taking that on. Out of fic, art and sites, I think sites is slightly less involved than the other two.
Also, although we have a volunteer to run the fan art section, he would like some assistance or he won’t have time to do it. Please consider volunteering to help him out a little.
Basically, if we can’t fill these last few spots by December, I’ll have little choice but to have no awards for 2007. We need December to prepare for the ‘fun’ part come January, but me alone or just a few people can’t do all the hard work ourselves. Trust me, we’re all busy - that’s why we need help! C’mon fandom, this will be the sixth year of the awards if they go on…let’s keep 'em alive. Thanks.

Well, I’m helping Purrsia with the Fandom Awards and we’re STILL needing assistance in the following areas:
Advertising (i don’t kow all of the sites out there… it’s hard to advertise when it’s time to vote or even to NOMINATE without having it postewd everywhere!)
Fan Fiction (AzMom was the leader of this, but doesn’t have Internet connection at home at this time… We need someone to go around the Sites in the Fandom and nominate some stories written in 2007!)
Without any Help, the Fandom awards aren’t going to go on… I’m juggling everything that I can handle since I’ve stepped into the Fan Fiction, Fan Art (that includes designing the awards) and the Advertising!

Dropped in to let you all know that we’re going to start the nomination period next weekend (Feb 9-10) starting with the Fan Fiction division. Azmom has turned in her eligibility list, so if you wanna head to the group early ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TCfandomawards/ ) and check it out, please do. I remind you that just because something is not on that list, doesn’t mean it can’t be nominated. Just make sure that something not listed is A ) eligible according to the rules (look them up - they’re at the group) and B ) you leave us a link so that we can varify its eligibility. Otherwise, the nom will be disqualified. Or let us know ahead of time something was left off the list, and we’ll amend the list. Works either way.
There are lots of documents and posts that should help you figure out what’s going on at the group. I will also be posting a quick reminder about the nomination process and etiquette closer to the weekend at the group. If you have any questions, please post them at the group, not here. Thanks.
Nominations for fic will last about a week. From that past, that seems like adequate time for everyone who wants to participate to have their say. Too long, and the awards seem to drag and people lose interest along with the fact that we get nomination overload if it goes too long, defeating the purpose of narrowing the field - not to mention we’re a bit behind schedule already
Fan Art and Fan Site divisions will be up for nominations in the near future, so as they say in this bizz, ‘stay tuned’

Hey Thundercat fans!!! Just a reminder that the nomination phase for the Fic area of the TCat Awards is in full swing and we need you to come out and nominate your favorite fic author or story.
Just go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TCfandomawards/ , click on Database, then look for Fan Fic Nominations 2007. If at all possible, please fill in all the nomination areas. If you aren’t sure who or what should be nominated, then feel free to check out the candidate lists that Azmom put together. And if you think an author or story was missed, then please add their name or story along with a link so we can check it out too.
Not a member? It’s easy to join then you too can put in your two cents on who you want to see win an award this year.

What about other areas of fandom, would it be just fan fic this year???
They’ll start with the fan-fic and then go on to fan art and the various T-Cat sites. They won’t leave out those last two categories unless they want a rebellion on their hands. 
Catspat is right. The reason why the Fic area is running now is because it was the only area ready at the time.
Hopefully we can start the Art and Site nominations very soon, but Purrsia should have more info on that.

Last day to make your nominations everyone!!! As it stands now in the Fan Fiction area looks like the Best Show Parody will be dropped because of nil nominations.
It also looks like Most Improved Story and Most Improved Series will be dropped as well unless we can come up with one more nomination in each category. If you can, look around and see if you can find a story or series that can be entered there.
I also have to say great job on all the nominations so far! In the last two days we received many nominations, assuring that there will be Fic Awards this year. Give yourself a pat on the back all!

And yes, fan site noms will happen the following week and then on to voting! It just worked out, with everyone trying to help with the awards this year being busy and having other issues, that we needed to stagger the nominations to get the ball rolling 
I was wondering myself if any of it would even go on this year, but the team we have really pulled through despite everything.
They all deserve their own awards just for that!

Art noms are to end in a few hours (midnight EST) so if you have any last minute corrections or fresh noms, get in there! However, each area at least has the minimum requirements, so we’re looking pretty good as is.
I’m going to put up the fan site awards in the database soon for nominations…if you want to start early, I won’t stop you but they won’t officially start til midnight and go for a week, just like the others. Nominations for fan sites will end Midnight EST March 1st.
Voting will follow soon after on all three major award categories. Good luck to everyone, and congrats to all the nominees so far
