your 1st thundercat memory

Oh man, I know what you mean, Chris…
Y’know… I’m a big nostalgic myself.
Heck, my father is a huge nostalgic and I’m worse than him!

So I really LOVE threads like this one… I love thinking back of early memories of shows or movies that meant the world to me when I was a kid (and still do today)
Thundercats is one of those important shows to me. If not the most important…
That’s why I have a truckload of early Thundercats memories…

The very first one I have dates back to around 1986, when I was seven years old. Living in Belgium, I first saw the show as part of a French children’s programme called ‘Récré A2’ on the Antenne 2 network.
Of course, I didn’t know the show as Thundercats, it was Cosmocats back then!
Oh, and it wasn’t “Thundercats HO!” Lion-O shouted…It was “Cosmo- Cosmo-Cosmocahaaaats!”
:duh:

Anyway, I was completely blown away by the show from the very first episode! Even at that young age, I could clearly see that it was animated and written in a much better way than ‘He-Man & the Masters of the Universe’, a show I was a big fan of prior to that.
My favourite character was Lion-O (or Starlion in the French version of the show).
I recall being quite frustrated that no Lion-O action figures or Sword of Omens toy replicas were available in stores… (The toys only came out years later out here, you see…)
That’s why I had to use my imagination and be creative to play my hero Lion-O…
I vividly remember putting on one of my mother’s yellow wool gloves and sliding a short kitchen knife into it next to my forearm. I used to run around the neighborhood for hours like that… Shouted “Cosmo- Cosmo- Cosmocahaaaats!” quite a lot…

Well… until my mother realized what I was doing, confiscated her glove and forbade me to play around with cutlery, that is

Boy… Those were the days…
Really, I have a huge amount of Thundercats memories. And I’d love sharing some more with you guys 'n gals! It’s therapy, really!
So don’t be surprised or annoyed to see my name pop up in this thread again, from time to time…

So long,

Cliff

Yep, that was it!

As you can hear, Lion-O cries out at least some sort of “Cosmocats HO!” in the French opening credits…
Mind you, in the actual show they changed it to “Cosmo- Cosmo- Cosmocahaaats!” Sounds terrible!

Anyway… I only saw the French dubbed episodes for a little while. A few years later came this brand-new Belgian channel who aired the original English episodes!

Oh that made me cringe.
