I don’t dislike her, but I do find her better in small doses. I did however really enjoy Quickpick who is also an Overgard creation debuting in the same episode. Also, even though many don’t I also enjoy Cap’n Cracker. He always stood out to me as a child.

Overgard’s Mandora, Hachiman, and Captain Shiner characters stand out to me the most.
Captain Shiner was a great character - a nice blend of moral ambiguity. At least he was in “Sword In A Hole” - it’s a great shame his reappearance in “Thundercats HO!” saw him being just a straight-up villain. The one time where Leonard Starr was not as good as William Overgard?

Shiner was a great character. I still think LJN had some involvement with Thundercats, H in regards to getting as many toy characters in the 5 episodes as possible.
I liked Cracker.
Mandora always reminded me of a kid friendly female Judge Dredd.

Yes, in his first appearence, Shiner was a great character. It ws hard to believe (at aest for me) he was the same one that appeared in “ThunderCats Ho!” (I remember even thinking producers made a mistake and used the same character for different roles lol).

I agree with the majority thus far that Shiner was an epic character. Also, Thundercats HO was most definitely a toy commercial featuring a vast cast (including redesigned berserkers) and new vehicles. I believe Starr has said that LJN pushed for some of that at the time. Having said that the Thundercats HO 5 parter are some of my absolute favorite episodes!

I can believe that - so many of the more popular guest characters (mainly the ones with their own toys) getting crowbarred in just for the hell of it. You could probably trim Thundercats Ho down to an hour and not lose anything that mattered.

I agree. Ho 1-5 is also one of my favourites. There are episode from other shows like Transformers that were quite commercially, but are still some of my favourites.

I actually like “ThunderCats, Ho!” despite the flaws it has.
I like her mainly for the visual design, and because I enjoy Lynne Lipton’s John Wayne impression. 
Also I like the basic concept: Bad@$$ female cop.
It’s just that almost every episode in which she actually appeared was, to me, pretty dreadful.

True enough, although to be fair, Thundercats produced more figures of female characters than most other shows. Most of them didn’t bother with the female characters at all, Thundercats had figures of no less than four female characters.
Although to be fair, a figure of Mandora would have been justified.

I suppose “Mandora - The Evil Chaser”, while not dreadful, was more a collection of shorts than one full story. “Mandora And The Pirates” was better, although it had its dodgy moments.
“Sideswipe” was really iffy, and then in season 4 the voice just got ridiculously overdone, and she became a cardboard cutout of a cliche.

Yes, although you could argue six. If you count the PVC Wily Kit that was included with Cheetara before the Companions figure. And Stinger is implied to be a female in the comics.

No, still only five, I’ve already counted Wilykit - Cheetara, Wilykit, Pumyra and Robear-Belle had their own figures, that’s four characters. An alternate version of Wilykit might be a different figure, but it’s the same character.

Yes. To my knowledge the boys toyline (She-Ra does not count) with the most female characters is G.I. Joe. Thundercats is in second place. I can’t think of another toyline with as many female characters. Well maybe Bionic Six. Oddly enough those toys were also made b LJN.

Yeah Bionic Six had only three female character figures. It shows how LJN knew the toys would sell well when they made the characters from the TV show..unlike other companies. Mind you I suppose LJN learned their lesson after Dungeons & Dragons.

The number of shows where the female characters weren’t released as part of the toyline is staggering.

*Interestingly, in these shows the female villains were released as toys in these shows, but not the heroines.
The only one that can be exempted from accusations of sexism is Defenders Of The Earth. The only female character was Jedda, daughter of The Phantom, but as none of the other kids (Flash’s son Rick, Lothar’s son LJ and Mandrake’s adopted son Kshin) were released as toys either, we can excuse them.

More than a Mandora figure, I say a Willa, Nayda and even Chilla figures would have been made first. After all, I think Mandora only appeared in 6 eps (8 really, but in two of them her role was minimum and even silent in one of them).
