What would you like to put on the front page?

Yeah, I really only did that because I didn’t know what else to make. I don’t have time to make graphics, but if Kyle, Mark, or Chris want to make something up, I’ll gladly use it.

Firefox still isn’t loading any of the header graphics for me.

I was thinking to use reduced size images of the following so that people could link to our facebook and twitter accounts. I have in mind to put them kind of discretely somewhere on the site that they’re easy to access but don’t overwhelm the main banner.

Trying to fix the FireFox stuff…is it working now for anyone? I’m thinking it’s not working for me because the cache, but it might still not be working for everyone else.

Just tried it on Chrome and it doesn’t work there either, or IE7

My best guess is that the image files themselves didn’t come across on the FTP

Would you guys being able to deal with having this as our front page, at least until the site relaunches?

I used a wordpress hosted blog (similar to blogger). The options are very limited, which is why I didn’t change the nav bar color to red. This is the best customization I am able to get (I can add things to the right sidebar though).

If we can deal with this webpage, there are two advantages:

  1. Everyone has access to update the front page.

  2. Everyone can get used to Wordpress in the process. It isn’t the full-fledged version of Wordpress that we are using for the relaunch, but it’ll help those not familiar with the backend to play around with a bit until I setup up user access to the relaunch pages.

I can redirect the front page to this page if everyone is okay with the suggestion. Otherwise, we’ll continue to update the front page via HTML.

Just trying to find a temporary solution to the front page.

If I’m honest, I don’t think that page looks very attractive (no offence Manny - I know you said it’s only able to be customised up to a point), and I think the front page of our site is too important as for a new visitor it’s their first impression… :slight_smile:

If we were going over to the relaunched version of the site within the next couple of weeks then I’d say go for it as a temporary measure, but given that that front page would likely be there for 6 months or so, personally I think we’re better off with just you updating the one we have via HTML. :slight_smile:

With the amount of news we’ll have coming in over the next few weeks I’m prepared to deal with a less appealing front page.

However, if changing the front page to word press would affect our google ranking I would 100% prefer to make html changes to our front page.

We’re FINALLY #2 on google, right behind wikipedia and we’re AHEAD of imdb and I don’t want us to do anything to jeopardize that gain.
