It happened under unusual circumstances. I drove MM to our Fast Forward interview, http://www.fast-forward.tv/video/Show_244.mov ,and we had time to chat during the drive. That is where the comment came from. He reiterated it privately when I tweeted him recently. So, you just going to have to take my word on it for now, as I did his.

Actually, I love pencil work, and think your drawing is fine I just had not the time to comment.
Arc, meaning series of stories building to a climax and resolution. For new Tygra, I can see the rage and jealousy of being the displaced older child, the more gifted shoved aside for the less gifted, being the arc, and he either follows Grune’s path or his own.
It’s either that or something happens and Tygra ends up off on his own. (I’m betting more on badly injured and ‘group thinks he’s dead’ vs Tygra getting PO’ed and taking off on his own) and he stumbles on someone that can teach him to used his mind gifts.
Let’s face it Tygra could do a lot more than just throw illusions and sense people’s fears. He could control fire and make it do what he wanted once it was lit with his whip. He could do things like regulate his body temp, ect. He was the one that taught Lion-o to do it. A lot of what Tygra could do reminds you of stuff you’d learn in a Buddist temple.
So maybe we’ll meet Tygra’s guru or master in this series.
Of course they might be tagging Lynx-O for that role. That just crossed my mind.
At least that’s my bet. I could be way off.
I could be crazy.
You’re talking to someone who still believes Benagli was a low grade TK by the tricks he did with his hammer.
I’m in agreement that Tygra’s arc will likely be about Grune trying to woo him over to the darkside.
Where in the world does the “Tygra” clan info come from? Was it a typo on the back of an old toy packaging? Seems odd that someone would have the same name as their race. I’m guessing races in the new series are named simply as Lion, Tiger, Cheetah…
In the OS episode “The Trial of Mind Power”, when Snarf and the twins were asking about Tygra’s powers, Panthro said something like “the Tygra clan in Thundera has special mind powers”; he didn’t say “Tygra’s clan”.
Also, less indicative though, in “Snarf Takes the Challenge”, when Tygra comes out of the Silent Forest, he finds a maze with two pillars that had his head sculpted on top of them, and he says something like “A maze, with Tygra’s heads sculpted”. I always found it strange that he said “Tygra’s heads” as if he was talking about a group or something; if ot he could have said “with my head sculpted” lol
I think Cheetara once referred to the Cheetara clan as well, maybe in “Telepathy Beam” (or she might have said the Cheetah clan, not sure… but Pantrho did said “The Tygra clan”)
I don’t think so. Grune is responsible for his father’s murder and the destruction of their kingdom. I don’t think he’s going to be enticed by Grune or Mumm-Ra because he is good and hates them for what they did, and he definitely hates the lizards.
I hope his arc includes the following…
[ul]
[li]Learning the truth about who he is - ie. who his parents were, how and why he was adopted, etc…[/li][li]Finally being able to release the emotions he is bottling up and is currently building and boiling under the surface. I’d like to see him cry. [/li][li]Discovery of his mental abilities.[/li][li]And discovering his weakness regarding his mental controls meaning he’s much more susceptible to mind control.[/li][/ul]
Lion started his trial against Tygra up in the snowly regions. If I remember correctly it was actually Lion-o who was muttering something like 'ignore the cold like Tygra taught you ’ or something like that. Which really wasn’t working for him because Lion-O was freezing a certain part of his body off. Then they flipped to Tygra who was happily bouncing around in cold like it didn’t even bother him.
If I remember too Tygra could control his balance enough to only sink a inch or so in to the snow too where Lion-O was going down to his waist.
I also don’t think there will be an arc with Grune trying to “gain” Tygra to his side, but I think there will be at least an episode dedicated to it.
I can see Grune trying to persuade him that he actually made him a favor by killing Claudus, because as a son of Claudus he would never be something important, just the second without a chance to be King (all these are Grune’s words, of course), and that what Claudus really did him was to hold him back and how that was unfair to him because he’s a great warrior and has this special poewers that could have taken him really far and yada yada.
Tygra might feel tempted and, being that young (19-20) gwt actually confused by Grune’s words.
Again, I don’t think it will become an arc, but it will be there some time.
Guess you got a point. But to be fair, none of the TCs -not even Lion-o- ever froze in Hook Mountain except that one time. I think it was more plot-induced than any other thing.
What I could see along the lines of your idea is that all the ThunderCats get captured. Grune tries to persuade Tygra to join him. Tygra plays along making us all believe he’s actually interested in switching sides, but then turns on Grune and rescues the others. After they’re free and safe, Lion-O says something to Tygra like, “Thanks Tygra, for a moment I thought you were really tempted by his offer.” Then after Lion-O walks away and Tygra is alone, he says to himself, “For a moment, I was.” Be even neater if either Panthro or Cheetara overheard him.
Actually that might have been pretty consistant about Lion-o not being a huge fan of the cold. (Well, conistant for that show anyway.)
As for the fire thing… I think we actually saw Tygra snuff a candle out only using his mind once. (That might have been Lion-o’s trial too but I’m not sure) I could be wrong about that. If nothing else any fire he started with the chemicals in his whip rose, danced or exstingished at his mental command.
It makes sense the ThunderCats wouldn’t like cold. Typically, cats like heat and hate cold. If a cat can lay in the sun, it will as opposed to the shadows. Unless perhaps it’s too hot.
I think you’re right there as he seemed to do that in “Mongor” and “Superpower Potion”. I’m not sure though if it was his mind controlling it (he followed the fire balls with his eyes after all, thus giving the impression he was controlling/directing them), or it was the whip… remember it was a magic weapon after all. If he controlled the whip, he could control what it produced.
What does everybody think? If everybody agrees, I’ll add it to his abilities in the profile
Hmm… I guess I never noticed. The one time I can remember him referring to it being too cold was in The Trial of Mind Power. “It’s not cold. It’s not cold. It’s not… It’s freezing, that’s what it is!”
The other time I remember the cold being referred to was in the episode when the Kittens and Snarfer crashed in the snow, I don’t remember what was going on although I believed they were on their way to try and help Hachiman. I seem to remember them referring to the dangerous cold.
Would it be possible to break up the Tygra Profile into OS and NS? He’s so different in the NS from his OS that it gets a little confusing…like his eyes seem to be orange in the NS and he can swim without issue. And he’s adopted, not a foster child (foster implies it’s a temporary situation).
As of right now he can swim. In the OS he could swim, then the Safari Joe episode came along and they said that he couldn’t swim. I am hoping for more consistency with this series.
