The writing in this show is fine. They’ve gotten off track with the overall story for two episodes and that’s it. They’ve never written a “bad” episode.
I’m not going to delve into that can o worms at this time, but for the sake of this discussion they have been very liberal with “short cuts”.
True - just wouldn’t be a first for any writer to give the audience a ‘really?’ moment… ugh I hate those moments. Although I feel like it did happen to me in RFD when Lion-O actually followed through on the potion idea… and then again when Tygra took the cup instead
Another thing I’d like to point out is both Lion-O and Mumm-Ra are walking into the room. Pumyra, or anyone with a brain, would not try to get the stone again and get shocked again. So it’s either one of these two things:

She got shocked again, but by Mumm-Ra
We know Mumm-Ra is evil, but he has not hurt anyone trying to help him and even expressed his self-limits with violence. If the first is true, then Mumm-Ra would have been more concerned, considering Pumyra (if she is a spy) is part of his plan to get the stone.
Mumra cares about Mumra only. He will step on anyone to achieve his goals. In my previous posts I was just assuming that it was Mumra who zapped Pumyra and not the phaser.
I forgot Dobo. It makes perfect sense.
But let’s not forget that the producers have teased us with the “betray” thing before in “Into the Astral plane”, and it wasn’t what it was supposed to be.

I’m trying to be as non-biased as possible. He would care about Pumyra getting hurt because according to you and others who think she’s the betrayer, she went for the stone so she could get it for Mumm-Ra. Therefore, her not getting the stone=he doesn’t get it either.
Also, this has to do with Vultaire being the betrayer, the Ancient Spirits of Evil include a bird alongside a jackal and a monkey. If that isn’t foreshadowing then I don’t know what is!

What does Vultaire gain from allying himself with Mumra and in turn destroying his city. His goal seems to just stay clear of the BS below. Other than being an arrogant as* what evil thing has he done? And he’s had his numrous chances to do evil things.
Totally…I don’t think the betrayer will “betray” very long in the episode.
But at the same time, everyone shouldn’t be so quick to judge Pumyra and use the end of the last episode as a means to justify the claim. Let’s not be too shallow about it…
I’m not saying it is 100% not Pumyra, but so many things point to it being Vultaire that it’s hard to think Pumyra is the betrayer. The Ancient Spirits having a bird along with the other mutants plus the fact he is bad in the OS pretty much say he’s the one betraying. Mumm-Ra could do anything to influence Vultaire to give him the stone, like offer to rebuilt the city or have him protect the stone in his name for some reward.
No one is trying to be shallow, the problem is, is that the events of the last episode was the culmination of numerous smaller occurances that would lead to doubt about her intentions. In previous episodes the other cats have expressed serious concerns about Pumyra, particularly her actions and behavior. This potential betrayal would seem like something she is fully capable of.
Agreed. I wont jump to any other conclusion until I see the episode.
I guess… but at the same time any good story has it’s mole being the least obvious character, or the one that brings it up. One example being ‘Young Justice’ - everyone thought it was either Artemis, Miss Martian, or Superboy but the mole turned out to be Red Arrow - the one who accused all three.
In ‘Revenge’ Emily tries to make everyone suspicious of each other, but oddly enough no one thinks of her because of the image she makes herself out to be. (I mean sure as an audience we know, but she gives everyone else the idea that she is perfectly harmless)
While Pumyra is without a doubt on the suspect list, it isn’t exactly a good idea to give the green light on just her. At this point it could be anyone.

I’m trying not to, but so many things point toward Vultaire and I’m only about 90% sure it isn’t Pumyra, even though I think she’ll have a change of heart if she does.

I agree with you on it being Vultaire. And for Pumyra, all she wanted what was best for there race and not thinking what might happen to the other races.
We the audience have the luxury of being a third-party to all actions and can easily decern plot and character developments. Things such as a potential betrayal can be fairly obvious to us, but not so much to the characters engaging in the betrayal and being betrayed. (How many times have characters been shocked at their apparent betrayal by someone they had a connection with, which is blatantly obvious to the audience) You have MJ who has said that he wants to make it as difficult for Lion-o as possible. What could be more devastating for him than being betrayed by someone he seems to care about. (again)

In the preview they don’t say that it would be a cat at all, just a “trusted ally.” I know that’s playing Devil’s Advocate a bit, but still.
It’s also possible that they’re making this “betrayal” out to be bigger than it actually is (sort of like what happened in "Between Brothers). It may be nothing more than Pumyra abandoning her post to go after the tech stone again (which seems likely based on the preview).
Maybe it is Tygra.
