Why do they feel the need to re-draw the “Thundercats”, I’ve never seen anyone do it and have it look as good. The old cats head next to the T was never an exact replica of the insignia from the sword. The gradients are positioned differently too and don’t look as good. That bevel effect used on the main logo on the black sleeve is really ugly to me too, would look better without it. I like that they included the white burst effect behind the figure like the LJN packaging.

I’d prefer it like this, so similar, but It just hits the correct nostalgia spot for me this way.

I did some tweaks. First, the box should be black, looks much more sober and reminds of the old blistercard. I modified the height of the box and put the logo on the top, in my opinion it’s a better option, evokes more nostalgic as well. I used the old logo, the real one, I don’t know if they can use it or if there is something that prevents it, but I like this one much more. The slipcover isn’t useful to me and the logo with modifications and shadows is ugly, I prefer the original. I also made another montage with the new logo, I show you both.

I like the version with the classic ThunderCats logo.

I agree the classic Logo is better, and the LJN styling is much better. Not sure why you try to reinvent the wheel every time.

Also, while I like these in a box very much (although carded in a way they could be replaced would be optimal), I’ve never ever understood the purpose of a slipcover other than to add to the cost for me. Pointless!

I don’t know I didn’t think what super7 showed looked bad. Its only packaging. Everyone has a preference for how they think packaging should look and super7 can’t please everyone when peoples expectations don’t get met.

Everyone here in other forums and social networks agrees with the changes I made and they believe that visually it is better. Super7 must listen to its customers.

Someone, or several people were paid to design that, and several other people approved it to send to the licensor to sign off on, I think we can be entitled to be picky. It wasn’t made by one person in a vacuum, Super7 have come to a concensus that this is good enough. To me it’s a bit lack-luster, and it looks like a bit of a lazy effort. This is a premium product, or at least commands a premium price tag, and as a result should really have something about it that grabs you. As it is, I think the overall concensus would be that it’s mediochre at best. You say it’s only packaging, but a lot of poeple leave there figures in the box to display and as a result this packaging becomes as much a part of your collection as the figures. I don’t collect MOTU classics, but I think the filmation line Castle Greyskull packaging is really good, and has some thought put into it. This on the other hand, what’s the thought process behind it?

Don’t get me wrong Just because I personally had no issue with the packaging doesn’t mean others can’t express that they prefer something else. When I said Super7 can’t please everyone its a true statement they had several packaging concepts and chose to go with this version and have already sent it to the licensor to sign off on so I don’t think they will make any changes to it at this point even if other members do a mock up that some like better.

If it hadn’t already been sent off to the licensor to sign off on I might agree with you, but its done and if WB signs off on it then that’s most likely what we will be getting.

It won’t be the first time WB made a poor decision signing off on a Thundercats product.

They don’t want showing any real prototypes to fans after the fans pointed out numerous faults and design decisions they didn’t like. They would just rather show the product they are giving the fans and be done with it.

To be fair Mattel did the same thing. We were shown Horsemen prototypes At cons in Video panels and that was it until the figures hit our doorsteps. Mattel never showed us stage by stage to give the fanbase a chance to offer criticism positive or negative

You might want to look at the timeline of events from announcement to release on the Mattel wave. Two of the sculpts were definitely altered as a result of feedback, and we saw updates prior to the figures going into production.

Anyway, I didn’t post a revised design to try and get Brian to halt all production until my high standard was met, I just did it show what I think looks good and to see if others agree. If they changed to something more similar to mine or Baedal’s (I actually like his 1st version better than mine), I’d be happy, if they don’t it’s not unexpected.

I agree and the Fat Armor was a huge problem for Mattel because we got a lot of it despite the customer complaints. At least Super7 went with Thinner armor even though it may have been glued down it still looked 100 times better than what Mattel offered.

Yeah it was terribly designed. None of the vintage figures armour had that problem. What is really infuriating though is the fact that most, if not all, of the figures with the Fat Armour were figures that didn’t require the armour to be removable so it wouldn’t have mattered if it was glued..
It could have been easily fixed if they had just sculpted a thinner body to use on certain figures.

The pre-sale period is ending and Super7 wasn’t able to give us the line-up of wave 2 or a simple interview. The only breakthrough was that ugly packaging made carelessly. Bad marketing move.
I sincerely hope that in NYCC they have something to show.
