I think you’re probably right, my one concern would be whether doing that would exacerbate any technical problems, but I think it would be something worth investigating for sure - I definitely agree with you about the retake concern! :frowning:

LOL, I’m also slightly nervous, but the thing I would say is that, at the end of the day, celebrities are just people like the rest of us, they’ve just had the good fortune of becoming famous, and this is true of Larry as much as anybody. The only reason I’m nervous is because I think hearing “Lion-O” on the end of a phone line, with us speaking to him, is going to be a rather surreal experience! :wink:

Hmmmm, possibly, although I know things are a bit up-in-the-air for MannyC. What I’m tempted to do is e-mail Larry those two dates as suggestions now and ask him which of the two would suit him best - what do you guys think? :slight_smile:

We do also need to think about the issue of buying Skype credit and who’s going to call Larry - which is partly why I was hoping someone from the US would want to take part, as I imagined it might be cheaper for them to do, LOL! :wink: However, no worries with whatever, we just need to work out how we’re going to do it! :slight_smile:

Apologies for the double-post - just to say that I e-mailed Larry, and this is his response:

Monday 24th September
UK: 1am
ET: 8pm
PT: 5pm

My one and only question about the timing of this is, where the UK time is 1:00am, does that mean 1:00am on Monday evening (a.k.a. Tuesday morning) or 1:00am Sunday evening (a.k.a. Monday morning)? I hope this question makes sense - please can you guys LMK? Many thanks! :slight_smile:

Having got the ball rolling there, my one and only remaining question relates to the purchase of Skype credit. We need to decide who is going to call Larry, how we purchase Skype credit with which to do it, and how much Skype credit needs purchasing for, say, 3 hours worth of International (non-UK) calls. Now, I definitely don’t think that we should try and keep Larry talking for 3 hours, but acquiring that much credit takes the pressure off and allows for sorting any technical problems that may arise, etc. :slight_smile:

Thanks to Neil I’ve recently sold a MOC Tygra with Wilykat figure (if you read this Neil, many thanks for all your help with that - I shall send a PM following this post! :slight_smile: ). It was a very flawed example and so didn’t go for much at all, and I’d like to keep some of the money from it to hand, but I would be happy to apportion some of the money from that sale to acquiring Skype credit for this special interview edition! :slight_smile:

As I say, I have no idea how much 3 hours’ worth of Skype credit for an International call would be, and so if it was more than, say, £15 or so I might need to ask you guys if it would be possible for us all to chip a bit in, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it! :wink:

If someone here with greater Skype knowledge than me could LMK a) How much Skype credit is, b) whether it costs more to call an International number, and c) how I actually go about purchasing it, that would be absolutely excellent and very much appreciated - as you can tell, I am a complete and utter doofus when it comes to stuff like this! :wink: Many thanks! :slight_smile:

This is because Larry is in the US, which is behind us, so it will be Monday evening for him.

Had a dream last night that we did this and half way through we discovered it was a fake and it wasn’t really larry LOL… proper funny..

With regards to skype funding, i should be able to contribute something once i get this months pay check (as all my last one went straight out for uni fee’s)

Just a quick post about the flow of the episode…

Perhaps we should divide the episode up into the following topics for questions:

-pre-Thundercats work
-getting the Thundercats gig
-working on Thundercats
-work after Thundercats (DVD’s, Family Guy plus other stuff etc…)

We also need to make sure we thank him for the autographs as well :slight_smile:

EDIT: and just to confirm, an international call to a US landline is 1.4 pence per minute. Skype credit is a minumum purchase of £11.50 (including VAT) and can be bought with a debit/credit card or Paypal.

A quick note.. we are looking for somebody to spare 1 minute on saturday who lives in the US and has a landline phone. We just need to test recording a non skype connection to confirm everything works swimingly… If ANYONE can help please let us know ASAP and we will arrange a time to suite you on saturday..

LOL! That was funny. It came up on our caller ID as ‘blackiecats’, and it was pretty priceless when my hubby answered and passed the phone to me saying “uh, it’s some British guy”.

You gotta love skype.

Ah, if I had had more time, I would have chatted you up. Nice to talk to you in ‘real time’ though :slight_smile:

Anyway, love to help you out with that land line test, but we use skype exclusively for our phone at the moment because a land line out where we moved is outrageously priced per month. Skype is more economical and not so bad once you get a usb adapater so you can use a regular cordless phone with it. Works for me :wink:

(j/k!) :wink: Joking aside, no worries about not having time to speak, as soon as we started talking to you Kyle started dialling us, so we needed to get off anyway - lovely to speak, however briefly, in “real time” as you say! :slight_smile:

Thanks Angie! And, no probs about the landline test, I have a friend in Australia (who some here will know as “The Girl” - long story! :wink: ) who has recently gone on to using a Skype phone, as many of her friends (myself included) use the software and so are able to use it to talk for free, even using a telephone! :slight_smile:

Back to business: Please, please, please, please, please, if there’s someone here who can spare 1 minute of their time letting Neil, Kyle & myself call your US landline, we would be eternally grateful! :slight_smile: I know Mark’s in Canada, but maybe Matt or one of the two Manny’s could help us out? Just to let you guys know that the recording with Larry went amazingly well! I’m kind-of knackered to post about it in detail, but just thought I’d let you guys know - Larry was so gracious and cool to talk to, really made us feel relaxed and I think I can speak for Neil, Kyle & myself when I say that I didn’t feel nervous at all! :slight_smile:

The recording quality was kind-of MOR because we were talking to Larry on his cell phone - however, taking that into account I was very impressed with the quality! From this interview, we established the following bits of info:

  • Larry smokes a pipe
  • Larry owns an iPhone, which is what he was using!
  • The rumours about a CGI TCats movie have been CONFIRMED by Larry - the movie is in development, Larry doesn’t know if he’s going to be a part of it, it could all fall through but he says, and I quote, that the script has “been bought”. This is probably the biggest piece of news to emerge from the interview! :slight_smile:

Hopefully you guys should be able to hear this soon - I think you’ll like it! :slight_smile:

Last nights interview was AMAZING guys… So anyway I’ve been busy editing the interview (in particular the re-dial we had to do half way through and when larry swore).. Music has also been added to beginning and end.

I have built the web page for the podcast as well as the special artwork album cover for iTunes. All I need to do no is press GO and we can have this live.. I am guessing you guys wanna listen first before we go live so I have uploaded both the the Final podcast (27MB) as well as the unedited raw clip (63MB)..as I know Chris wanted a copy of the full event for his personal records. Both files are in my Staff Directory in Thundercasr Larry Kenny Special Edition. p.s Add the thundercast edit to iTunes and you will see the album cover etc…

So guys.. once you have ‘proof listened’ as it were, could you let me know and I can get it live. I believe we were going to suspend the announcement of the podcast until our anniversary, but due to exciting revelations in the podcast we should get it live whilst it still is ‘breaking news’..

I was also wondering, as I’m doing updates for my own page, if I could include a link to TCL and the podcast page in my news ticker (it’s on the main page of the site)…fans love Larry and any news he has to give us, and it would of course, drive more fan traffic to TCL/draw attention to the podcast. I would make it of course, very obvious this is a feature on another site.
