I just got back from Comic Con in San Diego and was thinking about this thread while I was there. I saw a few rooms (in the evenings) that were being used for fan based meetings, it was built right into the convention schedule.

I was thinking that if the cost wasn’t too exorbitant to book a room for a couple hours that we could hold a ThunderCats panel/fan meet at the convention. I know that our site admin Manny lives not far from the Con, and while it’s all the way on the West Coast, Comic Con is probably the best oppotunity for people to travel there as most of us geeks have more than one obsession related to comics, animation and movies.

The advantage would be that by having the TCats thing built right into the schedule, many fans who were just attending the con and don’t frequent the various fan sites could still participate. And with a bit of work we could probably get some help from sponsors?

How’d you like the convention, Mark? The Los Angeles Times covered it, and just today they reported that a Sword of Omens was selling there for $50. Can you confirm that? And on a humorous note, the reporter said “Lionel” instead of “Lion-O”.

I’d come, but San Diego’s much too far for me. Now, if an amine con was being held here in Los Angeles, that would be different. I would go to it to meet fellow ThunderCat fans.

I think one should be set up when a new series is announced..sort of like a celebration type thing. Could you imagine all the people in costumes, heh heh

Unless…

each fan, pitched in 200 bucks (That would grant the fans who paid, free entrance, X amount of autographs from the voice actors)

Then it would not only cover the cost of the place to rent, but to pay the voice actors fee’s.

5 fans = 1000 bucks alone. Theirs a hell of a amount of us here that have spent close to 5K on merchandise alone, so 200 bucks would be beyond fair.

Make it in NYC (since most of the voice actors live here) and get bernard hoffer a band… and call it a con. Not that hard…

Thats how the power ranger fans did it, and it was VERY successfull. And face it, theirs alot more T-Cats fans then Power Rangers (at least in our age and cash bracket)

I think our best bet would be to do something small and informal as already mentioned, something that the die hard Tcats fan would really enjoy.

Here is what I envision.

We setup a small informal Thundercats fan fest at an appropriate location. Each member pays a certain fee that covers the cost of renting the main room, banquet hall, whatever, plus the cost of catering, and putting up one or two of the voice actors in a nice hotel. We would all have to cover our own hotel room expenses obviously.

Someone gets to interview the voice actor(s) in a very relaxed intimate manner like on that show “The Actors Studio” and then afterwards we all get to sit down to dinner with the voice actor(s). Finally after all that a very relaxed and informal “meet & greet” with the voice actors and amongst each other.

Perhaps have some booths showing off rare thundercats items, toys, etc..

That would be an awesome night!
