And how do you know that for a fact? If it was true, who do you think should replace Jerry O’Flaherty as director?
There doesn’t seem to be a movie being developed at all so no replacement is needed for a movie that isn’t being made.
Just please don’t give it to that guy who did The Lovely Bones 
Agreed, I am glad this script got posted online. It’s been great reading so many fan opinions and everyone being so passionate about the characters. Also it’s good to see that the level of participation on this board has been increasing daily in the last few days.
Sure go ahead, just remember most Hollywood producers wanting to develop a movie from a franchise, won’t look at scripts written by first timers. So unless you have other writing/film credits or planning on writing other movie scripts, your Thundercats script will end up being a lenghty and detailed fan fiction, without the chance of being optioned for adaptation. But never hurts to actually try and might end up with something great.
Before David Hayter’s script was optioned for X-Men, Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en) , Joss Whedon (Buffy, Firefly) and other writers had submitted their scripts. It would go through half dozen more writers and script revisions before the script was finalized. For Thundercats this is just the beginning.
Come on.. yeah sure The Lovely Bones might be a misfire but Peter Jackson adapted Lord of the Rings, which was an awesome movie going experience :). And I am sure he and Spielberg will do justice to Tintin 
.
Still I don’t think we will see any of the top A-list directors being attached to the Thundercats movie.
But I do hope they bring on writers and directors who are fans of the show and will likely do a better job in keeping the mythology of Thundercats intact, while still be able to update it for live action.

the movie needs to be called Thundercats - Genesis
it should show all the events that took place on Thundera before the Third Earth Exodus. after the credits roll, it should say “Wanna see what happens next, BUY THE DVD’S!”
then the sequel can be Episode 131.
Like Chris and some of the others, I was also a bit underwhelmed with Lion-O statue but this one is absolutely amazing. I love all the detail they added to it and the colors are quite nice.
I’d buy it if I could afford one.
I’ve always watched ThunderCats, but had forgotten about it. About a week ago I was cleaning out my stuff and saw an old VHS tape, which got me downloading the entire series. Would someone mind sending me the script? (via pm or e-mail) as I would like to read it in detail!
So I just read the script… thought it was a pretty good story. It seems to deviate from canon quite a bit, but that’s not that uncommon when adapting a movie from comics books or older tv shows.
That said, I thought the story was rather complicated. I enjoyed that it tried to tie in so many threads of the TC story, but I think it just did way to much for a stand alone movie. The whole prestory on Thundera, introducing six races on Middle Earth, Introducing Mumm-ra, the whole Blood Stone, Lion-o trying to grow up, Pumm-ra (who looks like Grune but is really Mumm-ra?). While a TC fan would be able to enjoy it, the average TC fan would find it more complicated than anything else I’m afraid.
It’s entirely possible that this was just an early version of the script and that a lot of modification would be done to it. Certainly some editing would be needed. I’m pretty sure that I remember the TCats talking about Slith and referring to him by name… but they shouldn’t as Slith is brand new to them. There were a few other errors two.
So, this brings up an interesting question: Is a bad TC movie better than no TC movie? Perhaps “bad” isn’t the right term… What I mean is this: Is a TC movie that would appeal primarily TC fans (and therefore probably not a commercial success) better than no movie?
I prefer no movie than just a mediocre Thundercats movie. Hands down
I think you missed the point Lordore. He is labeling a commercial failure of a movie, but one that would appeal to hardcore Thundercats fans as “bad” and asking if that would be better than no movie.
The scenario is reminiscent of the Transformers movie, which was a commercial flop at the box office and a big reason why G.I. Joe the movie was changed to a direct to VHS release. While that movie was “bad” by monetary standards, it was and continues to be a huge success to Transformer fans (and has since gone on to be somewhat of a financial success afterwards with significantly better sales of subsequent releases on home mediums.)
The ideal scenario would be to try to make something that most of the Thundercats fanbase would accept, but would also draw in more casual fans. I as a fan want something as close to the true nature of the original series as I could get, regardless of the financial success at the box office (although I would hope Thundercats and 80s action toon fans would support such a movie in droves to drive up the profits). However, if it is significantly altered from the original Thundercats mythos, then I would prefer no movie at all.
And apparently this arguement is wrong too Grune, Tell me do you remember any hardcore fan of this site who read Paul Sopocy’s script back in February and reacted positively(myself included) towards this scenario for a Thundercats movie? The majority turned it down. For fanservice purposes the script was OK, but for an official movie it was detracting so much.
I think RedRamage should have put it the other way around to stand correctly: ‘While an average TC fan would be able to enjoy it, the TC fans would find it more complicated than anything else I’m afraid.’

No I’m not. You assumed I meant Michael Bay’s Transformers. I was referring to “Transformers The Movie”, as in the 1986 animated release chronologically between Season’s 2 and 3 of the G1 series which WAS a flop. You won’t find that anywhere near the top of your list you linked.

Joe live action film came out in theaters, so I had to be referring to the only version that didn’t, the animated one released in 1987.
Back to the original point Lordore, I don’t think he was asking about that particular script in the final question he asked about whether or not we would want a “bad” (read commercial failure but one that appeals to hardcore fans) TC movie or a good one (vice versa). I think he made a few comments on the script, and then posed a general question about a TC movie. Maybe that was confusing, but I think that is what he meant it as: a general question regarding a TC movie, not that particular script.
If I’m wrong about the above assumption, then I stand corrected.

But you should know that any discussion or reference to a prospective Thundercats movie would be to the standards of a huge production like Transformers (2007 film) NOT of a movie which served mainly as a bridge into the Third season of G1 and its plot is generally considered as a part of the Series universe, much like the Thundercast HO movie. If you get my drift.

I printed out the script four years ago and found it very interesting in spite of its flaws.
I would like if WB would get Alex Garland to direct ThunderCats movie! His recent picture “Ex-Machina” is already a big hit, he would be a perfect sci fi fantasy director.
I understand that “ThunderCats” is out of date as a franchise, but if a movie version of the original show were done right, kids and adults alike would enjoy it dearly.
Agreed! If this franchise wants some media hype, a movie has to be done! Didn’t Michael Jelenic mention WB wanting to make a ThunderCats movie in “Esquire” magazine a while back?
