Dude these pages look sick. I am so pumped to see this starting to come together. Awesome.
Ill be brief because i must go to work now and yes Neil and I were attempting to work on it yesterday and we found that it was rather easy using the template we have. For other things like the vehicles there will need to be another template created and hopefully Chris can help us out on that. Neil and I have agreed that I will work on Series 1, he’ll work on Series 2 and I can work on series 3. With the ease that we had yesterday I should have a good portion of series 1.
Luckily I managed to finish my research papers for school early so I will have some time during the week to do this. Weekends though are out of the question because we will be at our inlaws for the next 3 weekends for the holidays
Im still not comfortable and oppose to the idea of launching now so please I would ask of everyone to please respect that and we promise to have a good amount of content on the site
On a side note this is for Team eyes only…do not, I repeat do not take this somehwere else or share it with your colleagues, friends, dogs, whatever it may be. There is mre where that came from

Red Eye! Wow… and not even the painted version, which means more than one was made… very cool
Is it just me or is the header graphic still acting up? I’m using firefox and there is a large amount of space, almost a full screen between the image and then the nav bar.
It seems to be happening on all pages.
Any ideas?

Yep, the header graphic has exactly the same problem as before, the large amount of space is how it displays in Firefox. In Safari you get a different problem, the header is forced hard left and the content container hard right - Kyle’s checked this out on his Mac and the problem occurs on both Windows and Mac versions of Safari. I’ve attached a screenshot to this post so you can see what I’m on about.
You will also note that the graphic used is the original “A Resource Site” version, not the “Site Beyond Sight” tagline version.
I had a look at the problem at MannyF’s request but unfortunately I don’t know quite enough about the back end of WordPress sites yet, if this were a regular HTML site I know exactly how I’d fix this problem to achieve exactly the desired effect but sadly I think this needs someone with more direct WP experience than me!

Any pics of the painted version? To be honest I wish the Mad Bubbler was painted… also why no more pics of this collection? and why sell things without adertising to the whole community what you got??? Just seems a strange way of doing things to me…:rolleyes:

Im thinking with all the great progress we have managed so far what our goal will be as far as launch date. Perhaps we should have a set date and go with it. Ive just given the site a quick browse and there is a ton of material that has been ported over
I do feel that the animation art section should be worked on prior to the launch and if needed Im willing to lend my hand as well to bring that section up before we launch

Hey Manny, I think that the ideal date to launch would be Sunday 6th February - I think we’ve all done an amazing job getting content ported over and I think that would be the perfect time to launch! Some of the material I need to do won’t be transferred by that time, but to be honest I’m not worried, I reckon by the end of March at the latest everything of mine will be done!
Re: the Animation Art, one of the biggest things that need doing with this is that the images in the current section need editing in Photoshop - at the moment in order to make the viewer that the images are in work, each animation cel is superimposed over a blue background, and this needs editing to change them into a red background. There’s a thread about it somewhere, I’ll have a scout round…

I must admit, MannyC, if you were able and willing to edit the images for me in Photoshop CS5 (when I did it I found it worked fine using the Quick Selection tool - you’ll see what I mean when I show you the thread) and upload them, you’d be doing me a massive favour, it would then be an easy task for one of us (me, you, Mark, or whoever) to get those pages online!
INSERT EDIT 2: The images I created for that template I put together are all located here: http://www.thundercatslair.org/cartoon-images/animation-art/ I think what it would need to make work is a bunch of sub-directories to be made in there containing the various images that correspond to each page… Anyway, no worries at all, but if you were able to help me out with the image editing, that would be amazing - thanks so much!

Is this how the pages should be? If so perhaps I can give Mark a hand at doing these. They look the same as the one Chris did so theoretically they should work

MannyC, I think these look amazing! I didn’t want to saddle you with another job but if you’re happy doing these, my own opinion is that you should you go for them - obviously it’s Mark’s judgement call really (hoping that he’s OK as haven’t seen him on the forums since Christmas?), but if I was going to make a call in his absence I’d say go for it, the ones you’re doing look just as good as mine and if there’s any aspect of any of them that Mark doesn’t like I can go in retrospectively and edit them!
Again, MannyC, really appreciate everything that you’re doing here, at this rate it won’t be long before we’ve fully transferred everything over to the new site!

Great Chris…Ill get on the pages for the cels. Some may need a little bit of extra editing but overall it shouldnt be too time consuming. It is about 30 pages or so but they can certainly be completed before 6 February.
Overall I find working on Wordpress to be a lot easier than working with the existing framework we have. I think my only gripe is that sometimes it is very slow but other than that once you have a template set up it is quite easy to do.

Yeah, the main selling point of WordPress is that, particularly if pages are template-based, it’s very easy to edit them, you don’t need to use HTML code but can edit them visually, which was one of the reasons MannyF wanted to go over to using that system, because he rightly stated that any team members past or present could upload their content without having to wait for an “HTML guy” to get it online, ironically the example he cited at the time was Matt’s mini-figures and the delay in getting those up.
As a web designer (albeit very much a new one!), I actually find WordPress frustrating to use because I’m used to editing at code level and find it buggy at times, but I must admit, seeing the amazing work you guys have done working off the templates, and how fast you’ve been able to get these great-looking pages together, I’m really beginning to see the benefits WordPress has!
(Can you tell I ate a dictionary for breakfast, LOL?!)
