SDCC Exclusive Figure

Yeah. I remember in 2009 they showed off some vintage comic Shredder and Foot Ninja figures but they never got released due to some legal thing with Playmates etc. I think some parts of those figures have been re-used for these, but the Turtles look completely new.
NECA are also doing some !/4 scale figures from the 1990 movie.
This is indeed a good time for us Turtles fans.

OMG still nothing whats going on ?

Yup, still absolutely nothing!!! Its frustrating to say the least. I keep on checking on FB and google it as sometimes Pixel-Dan or others like him get an exclusive scoop. But alas, NADA! ZILCH!!! Need I continue…

Mattel should learn from NECA and Hasbro. No announcements of an upcoming announcement. Just announce it and be done with it…or at the least give a specific date for the reveal.
Someone asked NECA at Toy Fair in February, after seeing the 1/4 scale movie figure and other video game figure, if there would be a possibility of smaller movie Turtles possibly in the video game line. They said we are thinking/working on something but can’t say anything yet. Four months later (on World Turtle Day) they reveal the 2x SDCC box sets.

Indeed.
And a bad time to be running out of funds. Between REBOR and Papo dinosaurs, BTAS, Filmation, Thundercats, Xbox One, Sony VR, Nintendo NX… and other things…
Great selection of TMNT. NECA Donatello Deluxe. NECA Video Games TMNT. S.H Figurarts. Hybrid Metals. Three Zero.

I thought Mattel is the type of company that tries to continue lines…right down to the most obscure figures. I would imagine that they would at least complete the core Thundercats crew. Plus, Four Horseman seems really hype about the line.

If I had the funds I would love to collect BTAS. Also there are some pretty awesome Transformers coming out.

Mattel have a history of not releasing core characters from certain lines. But in fairness I suppose it depends how well they sell. The lines I am thinking of that they didn’t make core characters from are ones that did not sell well at all. Although they would probably have sold better if certain characters had been included at the start, Avatar The Last Airbender comes to mind.

oh not, that’s terrible! I think the only way they can kickstart this line properly is to at least have wave 2 have the balance of the chore characters. I wonder if they’re planning on making the chase and exclusives characters that complete the core set. I actually am beginning to think Jaga and Grune will be the SDCC exclusive. That way they can finish the line faster.

still nothing what is going on .

At 6 figures a year in a bi-monthly subscription, even including the quarterly and exclusive figures, it is going to take at least three years to complete the core line up of Thundercats and Mutants.

Mattel posted they would be revealing one SDCC exclusive per day starting tomorrow (Thursday). Finally!

Yes at last, I saw it, the post reads:
Our 2016 SDCC Exclusive Reveal starts tomorrow!! Every day, one exclusive reveal. Which one will be your favourite?
Just a question though - it was posted 4 hours ago exactly. It’s already Thursday 8am this side of the world - so what time was it posted in the US then? I doubt they’ll reveal the first one “today” - I think it will only come out tomorrow (Friday). Anyway, I honestly think that either TC will be revealed first or second to last - I think the She-Ra doll will be left until last.

Not interested in a She-Ra doll. A Filmation She-Ra would be great. I wonder if Mattel is secretly replacing (and perhaps, reinvigorating) the MOTUC line with Classics 2 Filmation figures. I missed out on Filmation He-man (along with a ton of other folks) and would be delighted to see a Filmation Cringer/He-man deluxe box set at some point or even a Filmation Prince Adam!

Transformers are always cool to have. I could never start the Transformers line, considering my completist tendencies (lack of funds prevent me from going wild). I would probably end up with 2 copies of each - one in a transformed state and another in the non transformed state. I usually invest in smaller lines. I started collecting the Neca Aliens line but gave up midway due to them getting lazy and repackaging repaints (I didn’t get any of the humans, though). I guess it is expected if they follow the pattern of marketing for their Predator line. I wanted to pick up the Alien models from Play Kai Arts but never got around to it.

I purchased the first 4 figures from the new BTAS line + man bat + bat mobile and roxy rocket. I have a few others preordered. They are releasing them at a way faster rate than I can manage. I have a feeling that I could potentially wait a year or two and then pick up all the BTAS figures at once. I’m not sure if that would ultimately be the best strategy. :frowning:

Having a Grune and Jaga 2 pack would certainly speed things up. Perhaps, that’s why they were withheld in the first place. And, they could repeat this next year with Cheetara and Tygra as part of the 2017 sub and a Wiley Kit and Kat 2 pack (+ Snarf?) for SDCC.

I used to have hundreds of Transformers but sold most due to lack of space. All I have now is about a dozen.
With the Batwing and other stuff coming out I might get a few BTAS figures at some point. They look amazing and have even done the Batmobile in scale.

I really hope so! I don’t mind waiting 3 years to get the core characters, but pushing it like this (2packs) will be a clever move from Matty. Sadly I guess we’ll have to fork out $50 or $60 for said 2packs!! I don’t mind. I’m getting me some TC!

The time scale for release of the figures is what really put me off subscribing/collecting them.

Guys, I just want remind everyone to keep their expectations in check when in comes to communication from Matty. I have mentioned some of this before, but I want reiterate it.

We subscribers and fans are in this for the long haul, at least for the next 2 to 5 years if the line is successful. Matty IS going to disappoint us on numerous occasions in terms of service and communication. As long as they deliver on quality products, I am not going to get worked up on the rest.

Doesn’t mean we let them off the hook, but just don’t let it get to you. And I urge you to stop checking Matty social media pages for updates on an hourly basis, cause it’s only going to lead in frustration.

Continue remaining online if you choose to and have discussions on the forum here, just don’t except Matty to deliver product news in a timely fashion. It’s not going to happen and if it does, consider us lucky for that moment.

We might see a She-Ra reveal today and ThunderCats reveal tomorrow, as they might continue in the order listed in that SDCC Exclusives image or ThunderCats might be revealed last just for the heck of it.

Frankly, I am not sure who is in charge of it anymore. As a Mod, I only have access to the forum controls. I don’t have access to the site editing tools nor the social media pages.

Mark / Grizzlor is the site Admin. Back in January 2016 when the subscription got announced I contacted Mark to update the front page about the news. But he was traveling abroad and had limited online access, so he requested Justin (thunderianroyalguard) to update it. And Justin has been updating the site ever since.

But again, I don’t expect Justin nor anyone else to keep updating the site every time Mattel posts an update about an upcoming update. If he gets around to it, that’s fine. If not, just wait for me or someone else here on the forum to post it in the threads.

Work, family and personal matters is going to take priority for many have contributed to this site and that staff is a small group. This is part of their hobby (no one is getting paid) and though I would like to see our social media pages being updated daily along with site updates, that is likely not going to happen anytime soon.

As for the SDCC figure, until July we will remain clueless on the means to acquire the figure. We subscribers don’t get Early Access until our subscription gets activated in September. And if we are not MOTUC subscribers, do we end up ordering only during a regular sale or is there no regular sale for SDCC figures? Guess we will find out whenever Matty decides to inform us.
