Personally, I think the love triangle did more damage to Cheetara’s character than it did making the new series more interesting.
I doubt that, let’s not forget Cheetara is a cleric and there’s a reason she was part of the king’s most elite fighting force, Cheetara is a one cat army and has on several occasions taken out many enemies in the blink of an eye without any help from anyone. Perhaps without the superspeed if would be a bit more fair for Pumyra, but still I think it’s a bit like comparing Mike Tyson to Bruce Lee, sure Mike could KO Bruce but there’s no way the guy would even land a single blow before Bruce would have put him down for the count. Fierceness does not mean you’re a better fighter, just a fighter more likely to get into one. Cheetara’s steady temperment is a testament to her role as a cleric, my grandfather was a humble quiet man who was once attacked by street thugs, the three of them didn’t stand a chance and certainly didn’t know he was a black belt, true power isn’t about intimidation or throwing around your fist, a truly powerful person often displays calm and stillness the way Cheetara does.
The speed power is a funny one. Realistically, Cheetara should be able to take out all of them in a battle. You can’t take her down if you can’t even land a punch. Just as an example:

Cheetara’s speed is used very…blandly. Though this could be the writers trying to keep her power levels down. She can’t outshine Lion-O and that fancy sword;)
Yes, Cheetara is a force to not take lightly, I can see that but… a good example of her not using her speed and her cleric abilities to her advantage was her battle against Addicus BEFORE Tygra was held hostage. Exactly why, I guess that was the writer’s intention.
Would be interesting to see how both women would interact if they are paired for a mission in a future episode and if they ultimately would get along or have an animosity towards each other.

I’ve said that from the start. The stupid love triangle became dominant. If it was kept subtle and in the background, the two characters could have been fleshed out and developed much more as individuals who happened to then end up together. Tygra didn’t do too bad, as he got quite a lot of development, but Cheetara, apart from a short flashback stating that she joined the clerics, which we kind of guessed anyway since she was one, has BECOME the love triangle, as that has been her only development.
I still think there is a lot of room for character development though, I mean she’s a cleric! What does that mean exactly, who WERE the clerics, does she have powers or a belief system given to her by the clerics? What about her latent psychic power, will that appear? Is her quiet demeanour a result of her training or personality? There is a lot to explore, and I think that might go down in season 2.
You know what else is going to go down??? TEAM CHEETARA!!!
As if!!! She couldn’t even catch her!!! Pumyra will end up getting so angry and throwing such an infantlike strop that she’ll knock herself out with her own crappy bolas and then cheetara will stand victorious!! As it should be!!

I agree. It was total character assassination on the part of the writers. Her character went downhill after that and hasn’t managed to climb back up.
