Wow, Mark took your first insult and then still enaged you in conversation, and you follow it up with another sly dig. Classy dude.

If you comapre both shows, I don’t know how you could come away thinking anything other than the original is better, I’m not going to call you a douche for disagreeing, but side by side it’s an easy decision for me.

The original show never attempted to have a season long continuity, following on from where the last episode left off. The new series did, and in my opinion meandered about far too much instead of getting on with it. The original show never tried to make their characters deep by having them be angsty or brood, and never had a lot of in fighting between the group unless is was part of the villain plot to break them up. The constant bickering between the cats on the new show really put me off and I found them to be dislikeable a lot of the time. The old show never tried to have a love story between the cats. This again was part of the new show I could have lived without, it came off as a response to people who always argued who would have gotten together on the old show, but the execution was poor and I really don’t need love triangles in my cartoons.

As Mark said the old cartoon went pretty bad towards the end, but they had 130 episodes, the new show started to lose me at about episode 13. If you look at first 26 episodes of the old show in isolation it is fantastic. Great writing, wonderful stories and memorable and likeable characters. And if you go beyond that there are still loads of great stuff to come. It’s only after episode 65 that there is a noticeable drop off in quality. And all this from a vehilce to sell toys to kids.

The 2011 show had a lot to live up to, and a bigger hill to climb. It’s one thing to create a hit out of nowhere, but to try and remake that thing for a new generation and re-live it’s success is another thing entirely. The new show ultimately failed in this regard. Some of which is down to Cartoon Network and Bandai, but ultimately it was down to the creative team. The show just lacked a consistent quality, and based on the outline we got for the second season that never was, the show would have gotten even worse.

I want Thundercats to be in the public consciousness and have a show on TV, a movie in theatres, toys in stores, etc. I’m not going to delude myself into thinking something is really good when it’s not though, no matter how much I love the brand.

I don’t like the first half of the 2011 series. Too many unrelated boring episodes that don’t do much for the overall story. The series really picks up about half way through. Sadly though after the premiere you can’t save the best for last when you are trying to encourage kids to buy toys and watch the show.

This is a rather sociable forum were we don’t insult each other or result to childish name calling over a difference of opinion. Hopefully you can remember that.
BTW the reason MLP and TMNT are still going is because the people working on it actually knew what they were doing and embraced everything that made the originals popular and knew what to improve upon. Compare the first season of MLP:FIM and TMNT to Thundercats and it’s easy to see why one got cancelled.

All I’m saying I’m saying if they had perfect time for a merchandising, maybe better writers to continue the story, with a different and decent season 2 , with Lion-o slowly developed a relationship with the right girl, Cheetara tragic back story, and final battle. Even some pop culture references, reintroduced characters and so on, maybe they’ll do alright! Is that wrong to ask?! I’m so full of jealousy and hate right now. ..

Look, everyday I turn on the tv, and the only reboots that are still ongoing are mlp: fim and tmnt. Which is really sickening, because they hogging all the glory…

I can’t speak for MLP since my only connection to it was my sister had some of the toys when we were kids. TMNT on the other hand you can’t really complain that it’s popular. TMNT has been releasing new stuff consistently since 1987. They have had their ups and downs quality wise, but they have always remained in the public consiousness. 5 live action movies, comics, toys, and there are only a handful of years where they haven’t had a new cartoon on TV. I wouldn’t say they are hogging the glory, they just receive recognition because everyone and their grandma knows TMNT. I’m sure if Thundercats had this level of representation in the media there would be glory enough to go around.

You have to put the work in to get the reward. TMNT has established itself by keeping releasing new shows, movies and toys. WB have done nothing worthwhile with Thundercats since they came into ownership of it.

We’ll never see Mumm-rana, Willa and the Warrior Maidens, Safari Joe, Bengali, The Lunataks, Hachiman, tuskar, and the snowman in the reboot, all of WB cares about are Legos these days.

Starting? The only ones I can think of that were good are Superman 1, 2 and 3, Batman and Batman Returns. Pretty much everything since then has not been very good. I am not a fan of the Nolan Batman movies.

and I hope he never does learn…to give up. It’s that ‘never give up’ attitude that gave us a new season of Young Justice, a new Voltron series; but also earlier in the century new seasons of Futurama and Family Guy.

There’s a difference between “never give up” and “pissing in the wind”.

Family Guy wasn’t renewed, so was able to be picked up again later due to the increased viewership.

Futurama had a similar effect before being renewed and moved on to Comedy Central.

The new Voltron is a fresh reboot from the rights holder because the interest in a new series/toyline never waned.

Young Justice got renewed because the fans are INSANE.

Now, let’s compare that to ThunderCats, which…

1. Failed MISERABLY in the financial department.

2. Doesn’t have NEAR the following of the other shows listed.

3. IS NOT being aired in reruns currently, and wasn’t even able to stay on Toonami due to the lack of viewership.

4. Has had people BEHIND THE SHOW come out and tell everyone what the second season would have, and FLAT OUT SAY that it’s DEAD and Warner Brothers WILL NEVER pick it back up again.

ThunderCats is NOTHING like the other shows you listed. Not in function, following, or structure.

You want a NEW ThunderCats series? That might be doable. But you will NEVER get a continuation of the 2011 series. It simply doesn’t have the numbers to it.

Even the first petition we made, which cleared ALL numbers got removed and rejected. There is a reason for that.

There’s a difference between fighting an uphill battle you could win, and trying to do CPR on an animal’s corpse that vultures have already picked apart.

And the latter one is the 2011 ThunderCats series.

And unless anyone of you MAGICALLY have reliable information to state otherwise, the facts speak for themselves.
