It is Tygra with unpainted (actually it should be “painted”) nose and unpainted back of head and with black handle whip. The Rainbow logo is clearly on there (is it an older logo or newer?) but there’s also another logo in the bottom right corner. I’ve seen this card before but is it simply and older or newer Rainbow card or is it the Toy Options card? The whip looks to be shorter like the Childsbro and Toy Options was.
I was actually going to bid on this up to about 4pm yesterday when I noticed the price had sky rocketed to $300. It’s nearly the same as the one I have, except this one has the Rainbow Toys logo and address on it. I’m assuming this was issued before the one I have and the one I have was issued when Rainbow Toys moved in the warehouse space they rented from Toy Options (or Character Options as they are now known)
If I had bought this piece, I probably would have sold my Tygra on card with the Toy Options address as I would prefer the card with the Ranbow Toys logo.
Oh well, couldn’t afford to compete with toycollector2005 and would never pay over $300 for this piece (especially since it’s being shipped all the way from Hong Kong)
So for now I’m content with the version I have.
Oh and if anyone is interested, this one that was up for auction was a 22-back same as mine. I got back of card pictures off the seller.
Alright, here are some picture proof of the “old Tygra” sculpt variant. This is not about the Childsbro or the Toy Options Tygra’s with the paintjob (or lack there of) variations. This is about the the regular Tygra with and without straps under the feet.
As you can see in the pics, the one I would assume came out first w/o the straps has different hands and feet from the other. The right hand of the first has veins sculpted, the “straps” Tygra does not. The left hand of the first is probably the most obvious differance in sculpt. First of all it’s not very detailed, it almost looks as if he’s wearing a glove while the straps Tygra is much more detailed. The hand are also positioned differently. The first is holding the hand a bit like Ben-Gali with the palm facing down and the fingers sort of dangling. The straps Tygra has the hand more along the side with the palm facing the figure.
The feet of the first are more rounded at the edge of the toes while the straps version are more straight.
See for your self and discuss which came out first and where these were available. They are both marked LJN, so check your Tygra’s!

I’d have to say Centurn that you have made some valid points in your comparison. I would agree in that the “straps” Tygra would be a newer sculpt. I think its newer of course due to the fact that everything is more detailed but then again to me the “strapless” Tygra has a more detailed face. But overall I do have to agree that there are some notable differences and that the “strapless” Tygra is an earlier sculpt
A side note: The Toy Options and Childsbro releases with the head and face paint variations were made from the “strapless” sculpt.
Centurn: I have the non straps Tygra MOC on a German card and then the Tygra with the painted straps MOC on a LJN UK imported card. I think these are variations we have already talked about in this thread.
There were definately at least 2 slightly different sculpts of old Tygra.
Yes, we talked about it before in this thread but no one really comfirmed it until now. It’s always funnier when a new sculpt is acknowledged than paint variations of the same sculpt.
I dont hate sculpts or variations in general but they really are getting on my nerves at times because it is so much harder to complete a whole collection. However it makes things a bit more fun tracking down they variations and when you do have one it is so much more satisfying
I totally agree. It can get frustrating but at the same time it’s also kind of fun.
