It’s because there was no MOTUC SDCC exclusive this year.
Sure MOTUC is basically done. They released all the vintage figures, what more do they want? Outside of a couple New Adventures and She-Ra cartoon characters there isn’t much left to release.
Also some of the stuff has been delayed like Darius etc.
The delay of this weeks Thundercats SDCC reveal has probably got all the people who believed Mattel’s past scare mongering tactics to panic.
One thing you gotta know is that MOTUC collectors have been spoiled since 2008. Scott Neitlich the previous brand manager of mattycollector set the prescience of total communication and interaction with the fan base. That was one of the elements that made MOTUC such a success. Since he left, there has been no permanent fixture running the lines over at matty. People got so used to being spooned info very frequently, so when it just stopped, fans panicked. This is what we are seeing now with the total lack of information regarding MOTUC, Snake Mountain, Thundercats, etc. No one at Mattel is communicating or answering questions… so people are fearing the worst. Right now, anything we read is just rumor or speculation until Mattel finally provides some kind of official report. My guess is we MIGHT get some updates at SDCC. If not, then I’d say it’s a good bet some of these lines, and maybe even Thundercats Classics is on the chopping block. Mattel is just too scared to announce anything in fear that there will be mass cancelations of subs so they just do what they do best, which is to ignore the fans which is completely and utterly unprofessional.

Neitlich made some mistakes with the line but no one can deny he was pretty much a driving force for the MOTUC line. If he hadn’t been in charge of that line it would be safe to say there would still be no new MOTU products available at all…unless this new movie that has been in development for over 10+ years actually got made and they released some toys to support it.
That makes zero sense. They wouldn’t have to fear sub cancellations if they’re dropping the lines because they wouldn’t be able to keep the payments anyway.
Let me rephrase it then. Mattel will continue with their 2016 line-up, but will not divulge any bed news until the end of the year in fear that people might cancel their subs if they announce anything now. Mattel would rather instill a false sense of hope that something like the Thundercats line would last a few more years, ensuring people won’t cancel their subs. Hope this makes more sense.

I can’t help but to feel this line is Doomed even before it begun … I would rather have the truth now and not sit and hope that maybe it will make it … it’s begining to drain my excitement, and believe I am not alone, I had a lot of hope for this, but I fear if this silence continue, my interest in it will die a slow death!
I wish Mattel would jst say what’s going on and let the fans know and be done it.

Well some news at least have finally come from MattyCollector - that is, on their own website. I think there’s some issues with the updating of facebook, but they’ve still updated their website. The June sale has been announced (Skeletor and co) in their news section AND they’ve posted another reveal on June 6th (Amazon Barbie Wonder Woman) ((which I know was revelead already waaay back). But the good news is this little bit beneath the post:
“This product will be available for pre-order at MattyCollector.com on June 16, 2016 for subscribers only (Early Access), and from June 17 through June 26 for everyone else (All Access). Orders must be picked up in person at San Diego Comic-Con. This product won’t be for sale at the show, but you may have another opportunity to purchase this in [SIZE=5]July[/SIZE]. I might just get happy for nothing, as this might only refer to the Barbie reveal, but I think that they’ve kinda paid attention to those of us who can’t attend SDCC. We might just be able to get the SDCC figure in July as well.

No. You won’t have access to early access on Matty Collector until Lion-O is released. You’ll have to order it when it goes up for regular pre-order and hope you can find someone who is going to the show. Or you’ll have to be on Matty Collector the minute it goes up - if it goes up - after the con, because the likelyhood will be it will sell out in minutes and then you’ll have to spend an arm and leg for it on ebay. I’m really glad Mezco is offering a pre-order option for those of us who aren’t fortunate enough to go to the show.

ou would think Mattel would have the common sense to do something to allow the subscribers…who subscribed in February…to be ale to purchase the July SDCC exclusive figure.
Thanks for the info. That’s certainly a bummer that those subscribing to the Thundercats line won’t be eligible for its own exclusive. Looks like I am at the mercy of the kindness of a SDCC attendee.

Sadly for well over a decade Mattel have made a lot of decisions that do not make sense across various lines such as MOTU 200X, DC Super Heroes, DCUC, Justice League, Avatar TLAB, even Bravestarr in the 80’s.

I would try not to panic too much about the fate of the TC line yet. This morning, Matty revealed the Katana exclusive for the Superhero Girls Line on Facbeook. This was an exclusive that was included amongst the initial graphics that they released, but was not included in the USA Today article, so they are still showing things. I’ll admit that it’s worrisome that no new info came out of Powercon, but I’m still going to hope for the best at least until SDCC. IF they are going to just cancel the line as of 2017, then I wish they would tell us now so that I could cancel my sub. I really don’t care to have only 5 of the characters.

You would. But its Mattel, and from what I’ve read over on He-man.org (longtime member/lurker) over the lifespan of the MOTUC line - its always been a bit of a cluster f**k over there, even more so at the moment. As it stands right now MattyCollector has went thru brand managers in the past year like disposable diapers. We’re not even sure there is one at this point. I made a point to bring this up a while back - in hopes that the mods or whoever runs the show here could of reached out to Mattel and figure something out for us. I’ll say it again, it will be a real slap to the face for fans to have to resort to secondary market prices to get the first figure of “our” line. Now they just need to get on with announcing the damn exclusive and the price point so we can all scramble/plan accordingly. And I have a real strong feeling its going to be Grune. In the videos from that New York show, Cornboy says and puts a bit of an emphasis on it that we’d seen Grune real soon.

I’m definitely not in the “End Is Near” crowd that seems to be strong feeling amongst the Matty crowd yet. I agree that we should wait for SDCC in regards to the fate of the line as a whole.
Matty has also released info on their WWE exclusive figure (Shockmaster) up on the Matty website, so the info IS still coming out!

While I’m not sure about other subs, Club Third Earth can’t be canceled. I remember reading that when I subscribed.
