This was NIIICCEEE! very creative! i wonder why they haven’t made one for the new series? Doesn’t matter…i like it anyway. Maybe they were trying to stay low budget.
IIRC, they don’t make them when they want to add time either to advertisements or to the action in the show. Sadly, seconds saved are usually for squeezing in more ads.
From what I’ve heard they had first told them they could only have about 20-30 seconds for an intro, then they told them 15, and just kept shortening it on the crew until the crew just said forget it and just gave the super short one. I believe originally they might’ve had an intro that was fairly faithful to the OS intro because I remember Matthew Mercer talking about it in an interview, but it never saw daylight.
That would be nice to have as a special feature on the dvd.
I dont wanna be mean. But that intro just looks like and has the feeling of all the other intros that’s been posted here. Ofc it’s not ALL the same footage but all in all the same.
Also i would not call just fiddling around with video clips and call it “good job”.
As said i’m not doing this to be mean, i just think people give you a little 2 much credit.
All the Thundercats fans were expecting a knock out intro,the original opening was so memorable.I remember reading a while ago that they didn’t add one due to time restraints on the program and probably because of the extra money
I have to admit it would be a cool extra for BD release to animate an opening that matches the scenes in the original series opening. Hopefully they consider it 
All I can say is this…the show rocks and SOMETHING is better than NO SHOW AT ALL! So screw the opening, LOL, if that means more time for the show 
But yes…something refreshing and new would have been nice. Dreaming. But Balgus82 had fun with this, and I disagree with the commentor above…I understand your not trying to be mean, it was just for fun!

I think your edit looks alright Balgus. As someone who does a lot of AMVs though, I think I should give some input instead of just saying it looks good, so I hope you don’t mind if I give my critique.
The beginning part looks good, save for a bit where the camera is tilting up towards Lion-O’s face. There’s a jump cut and it’s a bit jarring. I don’t know if that was you or just the footage, but it’s just not smooth, and could probably be fixed.
The sword swinging and the “Ho!” are well matched, and the profile shots of the other cats seem appropriate. I also like the clip of Snarf you chose for his part.
Once we get into the meaty part of the intro, that’s when we start hearing the sound effects. I think your vid would have been better if you used a “clean” version of the intro without those sounds. I won’t fault you for it since I only found the clean intro recently, but I think it would have been better if the clips matched the sounds, especially Tygra’s whip.
The clips of Panthro and Cheetara are well used, but I think you could have cut out the close up of Cheetara while she was running.
Once it gets to the parts with Kit and Kat, things really start to feel off. The rocket launcher matches the explosion sound, but it feels too slow while listening to the fast paced music, which has been building up in tension. This is especially true with the clip of Kit just riding on Aubern. While it is probably Kit’s best moment in the show, it’s still too slow when played with the music, so it creates this kind of dissonance. The sound effects not matching don’t help either. Same goes for the group shot, even if it is probably the most appropriate shot when compared to the old opening.
Now the part with Mumm-Ra. It’s actually a decent transition into his transformation sequence, and it’s well matched with the sound. Probably the best part of the vid. However, the clips of him firing energy blasts at Lion-O bog things down again, which makes things feel rather anti-climactic.
So overall, I think you had a lot of good ideas and it’s a decent fan edit, but the pacing is too slow in some parts and doesn’t really match the rhythm of the music. I do like the resolution and video quality of the clips, so points for that.

I think if you took another shot at this and got a better video editor, it could be a lot better. Don’t try to just match the old intro in terms of clips matching, because the footage is rarely going to be that similar.
After watching yours, I do feel like possibly doing one more version, even if I’ve already done two. But that was before the show actually aired, so now I have a lot more at my disposal. I may just wait until the rest of the first season airs (who knows when that will be though…).
