Well, while different from “the writers”, script consultant Peter Lawrence was the one who said “Who cares about Tygra? Tygra was bland”. Which is surprising since in his position, he oversaw all the scripts. You’d think he could’ve seen the coolness of our cat, but maybe not, lol.
At least when one of the writers said “Nobody could get a hold on Tygra, lol” he said it with a laugh, sort of like he’d try to write for him but wasn’t totally sure of who he (Tygra) was; but, he can’t speak for all the writers.
As well he should. While Panthro might take charge sometimes on matters technical, Tygra is Lion-O’s second-in-command - illustrated by three episodes:
1 - The Unholy Alliance. When Lion-O goes to explore the woods, and the others question the decision, it’s clear that it was Tygra’s call. He’s the one reminding them of the big picture.
2 - Pumm-Ra. Much the same here. Tygra is head of the Thundercat council. And again, the big picture exposition stuff comes from him.
3 - All That Glitters. Lion-O says if he doesn’t come back alive, Tygra will be the next Lord of the Thundercats.
