Mumm-Ra’s re-design though has lot of subtle changes it is still comparitively less drastic than Lion-O’s re-design. The face guard indeed covers lot of his face, but other than that it looks good.
I am mainly looking forward to the diorama pose with the characters in classic design.
Though I likely won’t consider it, I hope many other fans of the re-design end up buying the limited version of the diorama; cause there will be lot of fans who might really like the re-design but may not necessarily want to own a statue of that re-design. So Kinetiquettes really have to figure out what is ideal edition size for that limited edition.
Rolling out the key characters is understandable, but is it safe to say the edition size that is being planned for the regular version for Lion-O vs Mumm-Ra will be the largest one than the other characters that will follow?
Any rough idea as to what that edition size might be?
I think the face is too “pretty.” It looks a little too human to me. Though that might change when we see an expression. And a few more stray bandages would look cool and help to convey motion (and help hide seams on the bare arms). Also I prefer when the cape connects to his wrists like this:
I guess this is good news for those who collect statues, but what about the rest of us? I’m just wondering, why is EVERYBODY with the rights to Thundercats, shying away from producing good ol’ action figures?
No offence to anyone, but statues are not really everyone’s cup of tea. They are expensive and take up a good deal of space. So naturally they will never sell as much as action figures. So why not take that route for a change?
I’ve lost count of how many different lines of TMNT action figures have been made and they all sell well. There’s just so many Lion-O statues that even a hard ore collector can amass. And when they don’t sell well, the manufacturers blame the fans for not being loyal.
TMNT has a new cartoon, movie and half a dozen comics in the last couple of years and some form of media presence every few years since the 90s. Besides the 2011 series ThunderCats had nothing much prior to that in the 90s and 2000s.

I’ve noticed your redesigns have a lot of similarities to the modern ThunderCats reboot. Was this intentional? Personally I like that. The 2011 series hasn’t had any merchandise at all since the show ended.
Personally, I don’t like that Lion-O design in general.
He looks a bit chubby and, therefore, disadvantaged to face Mumm-Ra.
I would suggest to make him a bit better built, so that he canbe a match to his rival.
Moreover , it would be great to move the shoulder plate to the right so that it makes equilibrium with the claw shield on his left.
That clear blue clothing looks like a large pajama. It should be more armour like.
New hair and beard look good to me.
Personally, I think the original Lion-O design is the most dated character of all Thundercats and therefore it desperately needed to be refreshed. The 2011 Lion-O did an excellent job on that regard. I would stick to it.
The guys at Kinetiquettes sent us their revised Classic Lion-O design (work in progress). After fan feedback they decided to adhere to the 80s cartoon look. The shoulder armor will be removable.

Nice, digging the more classic look. Good to know the armor is removable.
And just want to highlight that the costume color in the concept art is currently lilac. So I hoping the actual statue will have the more blue color to it.
This is much closer to what I would like to see. I can’t say I am in favor of the back of the hair or the gold shoulder armor but overall it looks nice.
