I would LOVE new figures in the Masters of the Universe Classic style! I also love the Thundercats Build-a-figure idea. I would want comic packs like the GI Joe 25th anniversary ones with NEW comics inside. Am I asking for too much?

I´d also like to see somethin´ like they did with the new Indiana Jones Movie - the Lego Series. Guess it´ll look kinda great to build a ThunderCatsLair from Lego or even Mumm-Ra´s pyramid.

Yeah it maybe a good thing. But sometimes better deals for WB may not necessarily mean better deals for fans. Of course from a marketing point of view releasing the figures during the movie release time will result in better sales. But I feel WB might end giving the license to a single giant company like Hasbro (though they are a fine toy company). I want to see the license go to NECA or DST who will produce better quality figures, something which will be targeted not only to kids but adults as well.
Also I want the Thundercats license to be distributed across various companies, hopefully WB will do that. Grant 6" action figures license to one, 12" and above to another, statues to some company, busts to another and prop replicas to another. Resulting in varieties of sculpts and design (some will good, some might be mediocre). And the Thundercats franchise will be popular further across various collecting circles.

I definitely like your thinking, but I think (intially at least) that WB’s ThunderCats movie will be treated like most other kids/family movies when it comes to the toys - i.e., one company will produce the lion’s share (no pun intended!) of the toys, which will be well-sculpted for adult collectors but marketed towards kids. I would very much expect the license to go either to Hasbro or (most likely) Mattel… 
My biggest hope for the movie is that they keep the Sword of Omens pretty much the same as the cartoon version. Why? Because, with most movies these days comes role-play toys!! Imagine a “Lights & Sounds Sword of Omens” made with today’s technology!! whipes away drool

As it was explained to me, its not nearly as simple as that. Many companies have attempted to scoup up the license for at least ten years going back to the cartoon network days. Deals that were made in the past are affecting what can be done today and what parties have a say in the toy licensing rights. I can assure everyone here, its not as simple as fans think and its not Warner Brothers holding all of the cards on this one.

Andrew, thanks for bringing this into light. Looks like too many legal hassles exist in terms of complete or partial ownership of the show. WB probably has DVDs and movie rights (or atleast some of it) and merchandising rights is probably with someone else? LJN’s people or somebody else perhaps.
