Well done Manny on picking this up for such a cool price. For how rare it is I think you got an amazing deal there! I would have jumped at the chance of getting it for $150.
Manny just saw the end price on your AFA Stinger…:yikes:
Say that again, Jaga… Sometimes I wonder if getting Thundercats figures graded is really worth it.
I’ve seen it doing wonders to Transformers, but Thundercats always seem to get the the same price as they would get loose MOC. Maybe if it’s Lion-O, being the most significative Thundercat would get the price very high.
At least it pays for the 8-Back Tygra…
Kind of dissapointing but truthfully it doesnt bother me too much.I didnt really loose or make any monney off of it since I ended up getting one for the same price. Matter of fact that same one you saw that was graded I had gotten it for $130 back in the day oh and the Bengali I just sold…hmmmmm I paid 225 for it and made 100% profit on. So Im not complaining, yes it wouldve been nicer to get a higher price for it but thats how it goes. In the end though if you really want to know I got 3 figures, a MOC 14 back Lion O, another Stinger and a 8 back Tygra for less than $400 so in the end between 2 AFA pieces there was a profit of over $300. Oh and to reiterate, both pieces; Tygra and Stinger are in much better shape than the ones I had
The problem is that most people who collect AFA items will not pay much more for an 80 or lower compared to an ungraded MOC. I have picked up vintage Star Wars 12 backs that have been graded AFA 80 for $400 to $500 less then an AFA 85. But the higher the grade the higher the price… When I am selling at a convention people always eye the graded stuff but rarely do I ever sell one at the convention.
I hope you did not take offense to my post. I was only trying to point out that I was suprised it did not go for more.
No offense at all, that has to be the best deal of all times in Thundercats history, hell the grading alone can cost up to 120 and originally i think i paid like 60-70 for the grading. Most 80’s or above I have seen that hey sell for 2-3 timesits ungraded value. With those numbers in mind if it was ungraded it wouldve been sold for less? Doesnt make sense, the one i just got which is ungraded is in better shape but I will stay away from grading unless its a super rare piece like the 8 back Tygra AFA has a nice service but if youre looking to resell and make money your best bet is to grade the super rare stuff, yes i sell to hopefully make some profit but in the end Im just upgrading or adding to my collection with the money i receive from any pieces I sell. No offense taken but a price tag of $150 on a AFA 80 Stinger is disappointing and somewhat upsetting. Goes to show everyone out there that just because you have a graded piece it doesnt mean you will get top price for it
When you take in grading costs and shipping back and forth it is really only worth doing for rare and expensive pieces. Since you can get a custom case made for any figure it is the better route to go. Your Stinger in my opinion is worth between $200 and $250. I think the only reason it did not go for more is right now MOC Thundercats in general are at a low on eBay. I have been watching a good amount of items selling for a lot less then they should. Just saw a nice Lynx-O go for $80 range and others also for good prices. Right now it is a buyers market.
Couldnt agreee with you more that it is a buyers market but one would think with income tax refunds coming in that people would get into bidding wars. I guess theyre paying off debts :?
Will anyone buy it?
The very same one I used to own and now he is trying to flip it on Ebay for $1,500? It upsets me seeing this but unfortunately thats how Ebay works, it bothers me a little bit but truth be told that the one I got currently is a much nicer Stinger. What a joke at $1500, whoever buys it for that much deserves the award for idiot of the year. And thats the bottom line cause MannyC said so LOL
Can someone send him an email and tell him to change www.TCL.com to www.thundercatslair.org lol
If he wants to advertise us in his listings that’s ok with me
so long he has the correct url down!
Neil Im way ahead of you, our minds as far as collecting and this site are too alike. I already shot him an email
Yeah I noticed that also. Glad it was taken care of already.
