Game: ThunderCat Trivia

Correct! We have a winner!

OK Wilycub, your turn!

Thanks, Liam!

Ok, here’s mine:

Name one character, besides Mumm-Ra, who contacts and communicates with the Ancient Spirits of Evil.

The Shadowmaster

That is correct! and very quick too! Your turn Mongor.

I can’t think of a good question so I’ll put a spin on yours.

Name one character, besides Mumm-Rana, who contacts and communicates with the Ancient Spirits of Good.

I’ll take a guess at Brodo in “The Astral Prison”.

LiamABC, you are correct!

OK, got one. Took a while to think of something, because we’ve milked this show for so much in the trivia department over the years:

Usually, when Mumm-Ra, or the Mutants, or the guest villain of the week, is capturing the Thundercats individually, the Kittens are either the first or the last to be nabbed. I can think of two episodes (there may be more) where they are caught “in the middle” as it were. Which episodes?

“Snarf Takes Up the Challenge” and “Mumm-Ra Berbil”?

Correct! Both times, they’re captured right after Panthro and right before Cheetara.

I suppose “The Evil Harp Of Char-Nin” would have been a sort-of acceptable answer, because they’re bagged next after Lion-O and before the others. I didn’t think of it at first because, well, it’s Lion-O!

Anyway, Tygra_Rules, it’s your turn!

Funny thing. I first posted “Snarf Takes Up ther Challenge” and “The Evil Harp of Charr Nin”, but didn’t know if that one would have been acceptable, so I thought hard and remembered “Mumm-Ra Berbil” lol.

Now, after some time I come back with one question involving my favorite TC:

Usually Tygra has to wrap his bolowhip around himself to turn invisible, but there are some episodes in which he turns invisible withou duing so; which eps are those? I can bring 4 to my mind.

Exodus
The Slaves Of Castle Plun-Darr
The Spaceship Beneath The Sands
The Trial Of Mind Power

Have I missed any?
Interestingly, these episodes were all written by Leonard Starr. It wasn’t until Peter Lawrence’s first episode, “The Time Capsule”, that the whip became instrumental for the invisibility power (and it’s worth saying that this was PL’s first episode whichever order we take the episodes in - production, air date, or the continuity order we’re assembling!).

I think he didn’t turn invisible in “Slaves of Castle Plundarr”; he was under the grass though.

You’ve got 3 out of 4, althought i didn’t have “The Spaceship Beneath the Sands” in mind, so there are still 2 more to go.

You’re right. I keep thinking he should turn invisible when Monkian says “anything I can see, I can hit”.

Pumm-Ra is another one, he turns visible at the end with no use of the whip. And now I think about it, this also happens in The Time Capsule when he’s under the earth!

Now you’ve got all of them, Liam!

Exodus, Pumm-Ra, Spaceship Beneath the Sands, Time Capsule and Trial of Mind Power (that makes 5, one more than I could recall).

There’s a sixth one: Mongor… he takes out his whip to “create a distraction” and hit it against the ground, causing some leaves to lift and then turns invisible, but he never wraps the whip around his body.

I find these eps interesting because they completely conrtadict the “he has to wrap his bolowhip around him to get invisible” thing.

Anyway, your turn!

Interesting indeed. Actually, I think it was the other way around, as the invisibility was a “natural feature” initially, and didn’t become dependent on the whip until Peter Lawrence started writing episodes.

Anyhow, my turn to think of a fresh trivia question - oh heck, here we go again . . .

OK. Sometimes the animators got lazy, and re-used the same designs for monsters (and allegedly vehicles as well). I can think of at least two instances where this happens, there could be more. Let’s hear them!

I agree with you in that it seems to be the other way around; I meant to say that, maybe I didn’t make it clear. From “Exodus” you can say his invisibility was a natural feature, which is somehow also stated in the trial of mind power when Panthro says Tygra’s clan has special powers.

As for your question, no idea

In response to Liam’s trivia question:

  1. The Rock Giant that Ratar-O creates in “Feliner - Part 1” is identical in design to the Rock Giant from the episode “The Rock Giant”. (although colored differently).

  2. The Kymera spaceship is identical in design to the spaceship in “The Transfer” that holds the radioactive sphere.

  3. While not identical, the Mossland Monster’s design is very similar to that of the Baleful Swamp monster that Mumm-Ra brings to life in “Totem of Dera”.

Another answer:

Baron Karnor’s gargoyles are reused as guardians of the Sound Stones.

Good answers - Wilycub, you have the most already, so I’ll give you this one.

The one that was missed was the Inflamer from “All That Glitters” - it reappeared as one of Mumm-Ra’s demons in “The Trial Of Evil”.
