I posted it in the statue thread but I’ll post it here as well…PCS Lion-O looks like he could have co-authored ‘Juiced’. Ronnie Coleman would be jealous of that statue (and, I don’t mean that as a good thing)…
You mean the Mr.Olympia guy? who holds the record of 8 straight wins of the title
Lion-o’s wavy hair make Frank Frazzeta’s Conan long dark hair look like bob cut! and as far as the body building is concerned he reminds me of Arnie’s take in Conan the Barbarian! Lion-o is pumped up but this is a great statue nontheless

Yeah…that Mr Olympia guy…
He co-owns the record with Lee Haney, but that isn’t the point.
PCS Lion-O, by all visual representation, looks WAY out of proportion…as in he should be one of the names on the Mitchell report. That statue makes him look like he’s on the juice, big time. Very imposing and visually a great piece, but also not very Lion-O for those same reasons I listed above.
*queen lynxana giggles
I don’t care what you guys say, I like it LOL ![]()
Hey lynxana i like it a lot too, Jerry and his team did an incredible job on this one hands down.
I am standing in awe watching it over and over again, hell yeah it’s a wild cat but on the same time so majestic ![]()
Just to a a make point here:liono
Up till now if you put them all down, side by side:
LJN-Hard Hero-PCS-Icon Heroes…
Which version brings to mind the Lion-o we all loved to watch in the 80s, without second thought???
And the oscar goes to…here’s a hint..he is the only one who is displayed Mint through a Blister ![]()
I think there’s defintely a market for the PCS version of Lion-O. Not my personal preference, but a lot of time and effort went into it. Best of all it’s a stepping stone to help put Thundercats back on the mainstream map.
The reaction of statue collectors to the PCS Lion-O statue has been overwhelmingly positive and it’ll be a big seller in my opinion. I’m thrilled to see that there is a market for all three statue lines, I was initially concerned that the market would be flooded but I am starting to believe that they will all be able to sell well.
Grune may be on to something. Maybe that is what Jaga did to Lion-O’s suspension capsule to make him grow a bit extra in his sleep!
All joking aside, it looks like an amazing statue. It is BIG, highly detailed, with fabric clothing no less. But personally, I find it too big, too expensive, too juiced up, and too much hair flowing from his head for me to consider purchasing. HOWEVER, if there is a giveaway, I certainly would not skip entering the contest or whatever is used to pick a winner. I just can’t justify the $400.00+ pricetag that will come with purchasing it…
Even though I’m not a statue guy, I personally feel the Hard Hero line blows anything away to date in terms of show accuracy. The LJN line was made of a cheap plastic 20 years ago. It was a fun toy and a great collectors item, way ahead of its time then, but compared to what Hard Hero is releasing now…in my eyes its not a fair comparison in terms of which version looks the most cartoon accurate (by that I mean Hard Hero; yes even with the fur skin). Again I would even put Icon Heros ahead of the LJN figs in this category. I would still take the LJN fig (even reissued) over the other three any day however (even if those statues were collectors items and released 20 years ago). Only because I’m an action figure guy, not for show accuracy.
Yeah, I mean if someone were to GIVE me one, I would certain take it w/o a second thought. It is very impressive, and if it were in the $200 range, I would definitely give Mumm-Ra (in Ever Living form) a serious consideration as I think that could be the most impressive T-Cats statue period. If I had $200 just sitting around tho, there’s about 30-40 other things in any combination I could list that I’d rather spend it on (the current Takara Predaking combiners reissue, a Bronze King Grayskull, catching up on my MOTUC collection, STARTING an LJN Thundercats MOC collection, Masterpiece Megatron w/o the orange tip, saving it for a rainy day in case sometime in my lifetime someone ever unboxed some Laser Sabre Capt. Shiners, 40 other things)
Back in January, i was one of the very few avid supporters of Hard Hero’s Lion-o, out of sheer admiration for the first statue i even wrote a lengthy review. I agree 110% on what you said Grune, these statues are way better than figures almost in every aspect. Fur or dark/green skin, HH’s Lion-o version managed to convey succesfully the cartoon image and at the same time the aesthetic quality of a detailed statue. My previous comment wasn’t meant on the overall quality and eye appeal,of course HH and PCS are miles ahead, but on the simplistic beauty of the LJN toys, which has closely identified them with the original cartoon for 25 years now. For instance, LJN’s Lion-o serene face expression and light orange skin bring me to mind the exact image of Lion-o’s presentation as shown in the series.
As far as Icon Heroes is concerned, it depends on which figure we are talking about.
-I take my hat off to Icon heroe’s Jackalman. He is way better than any LJN’s mutant figure, unquestionably.
-From the looks of it, Jaga has a unique representation and i like both versions equally, each one has different elements.
-Thunderclaw seems truly impressive, we should wait until it’s painted.
- For a figure, LJN’s Lion-o is so good in colours, face and body sculpture, magnetism, cartoon accuracy. All in all, in my opinion in this case, LJN beats easily Icon Heroes.
