Sounds like a lot of hassle for something your not getting paid for… I helped James Eatock out with DVD stuff for BCI and I didn’t sign anything…and I got paid for that!

Just an update on this - it seems Val & Emiliano aren’t going for the TCats comic license, although whether or not I believe him on that I don’t know. I mentioned to him that I hoped if they did secure the comic license there would be ways that they could work with this site to help promote the comic (one thing I mentioned was maybe Q&A’s with fans), and Val’s response was:

Actually, it’s nothing that robust, I’m sad to report.
We just want to pitch our art services to Warner Bros. So we wanted to do up art for several vintage items to show what we can do.
We have a few items in mind for what we want to show.
Sorry to disappoint with that news.

Am I alone in finding it too much of a coincidence that Val & Emiliano want to pitch to WB with one of their hottest properties, yet don’t want to work on that property?

Val also told me the NDA he wants me to sign was “about 3 pages” of “legal jargon”, and so my response was thus:

NDA, having given this a bit of thought, I think I’ll pass. I really hate to retract my offer of checking over what you guys put together, but to be honest, if it’s more than about a page of straightforward stuff I’m a bit too pushed at the moment to wade through it - I’m not somebody who likes to sign something without reading it thoroughly and properly (in my offline life I’ve probably signed about 200+ musicians’ employment contracts that have been issued to me, and have learned to always read the small print, lol!). By the time I read it and post it back overseas mail it would take me longer to sort out the NDA than it would to look at what you send me! I think if you were to send it to me the reality is it would just end up lying around for ages because I haven’t got the time to give it proper attention. So yeah, sorry to retract my offer, but think it’s best to be straight with you!

…Basically a polite way of saying “If this site isn’t getting anything out of it, and I’m not getting paid, a 3-page NDA is a lot of hassle to go through to do someone a favour!”

I’ve told him I’ll still help supply him with reference material if I have it handy, as really and truthfully if it’s sitting on my hard drive I might as well - but yeah, just thought I’d update you guys on how this is developing, LOL!

EDIT: Just as a side note, I really wish that Kyle had more spare time right now, and I had more contacts in the industry / experience of how to pitch to a company like WB. I 100% believe that if Kyle & I pitched a TCats comic series to WB, we would wipe the floor with everyone else who pitched!

Nope. I guess this must be something that has recently been implemented? I have noticed all my friends that were on the moderator team at the same time as myself, are no longer moderators…think only Theshadow and PatrickBateman are still there…

It’s possible I guess because all mods I believe are USA based…Is Martin Penny still a moderator? I’ve not heard anything from him in ages!

As for the help, sounds overcomplicated to me with these NDA’s. Definately not worth your time and the hassle involved. As for a ThunderCats comic, I’d assume you’d have to be in the industry and have experience under your belt.

I’m really not sure how far Val and Emil will get, as I assume WB has in house artists for all their promotional needs…
