Hi, some absolutely fantastic work here! I told Bernie about your work and he’s pleased someone is going to this effort and said he will listen to the tracks at some point.
If there are any tracks you find difficult, he offered to provide the scores for you to use (though they are on full-size manuscript paper, and are difficult to copy so I’d limit it to essentials if you need it).
If it’s helpful - do you want me to send the orchestra line up for both series? I can tell you how many players of each instrument were assembled for the sessions so you may find it easier to know how many parts are required?

Yeah, I had to tell Larry about what Motakay had done. He told me he really liked it, but I guess his post speaks for itself.
Thanks for doing this Martin. Like many here I’ve been listening to the tracks especially Champions of Third Earth on a loop now :).
Now although you’ve mentioned your reason for not doing the Cheetara theme (as it has already been released officially), for the sake of completion and so that all of us can listen to your unique take on it, I hope you will eventually re-consider your decision and compose a Cheetara theme as well.

Also, Martin, I don’t know if you’re aware but there is actually a longer version of Panthro’s theme available to listen to - if you check out the whole of “Dream Master” the episode features a larger chunk of Panthro’s theme, sadly with a dialogue/sound effects track running over it the whole time, but as someone who’s interested in the ThunderCats music it still might be worth you taking a listen to!

As a lover of TV show scores & music in general, I’m all giddy with excitement as to where this may lead!
Yeah, I’ve heard that one. It’s about 3 minutes long, I think. It’s snazzy and awesome - definately the kinda music that pumps you up. 
But congratulations, motakay. It seems that you’re putting a lot of work into this stuff and it’s very much appreciated. It sounds like the real thing - and considering Warner Bros. aren’t going to be releasing a ThunderCats soundtrack anytime, this is just as close. So much obliged.
Martin, here’s the best version of that first track I mentioned. I probably could’ve hit two birds with one stone when you hear what track comes next. lol.

..And if you scroll down to the 4:50 mark (same clip) there’s the another track I love too. It’s kind of a “Something’s Going On/Pondering” theme they used whenever the ThunderCats were trying to figure something out. There’s a slightly better version of that track too although I can’t think of the episode at the moment.

Not to take anything away from Motakay or BloodofKings but…Dave, do you think you can ask Bernard what the official track name is of our chosen title “Champions of Third Earth”?

After reading Larry’s comment I did not think I could be any happier, but I sure could. I appreciate so much that you have spoken to Bernard about what I am doing. I have so much respect for him and it feels almost unreal to hear that he knows about this. I really hope he will listen to some of the songs some day and I would really enjoy his honest opinion.
Thank you for the offer of providing some of the scores. Though I am a true amateur when it comes to reading music it would surly help me a lot (but I will studie music theorie this fall). I will gladly let you know if I will need any reference for future songs but will of course not demand anything. I have found all of the songs difficult to figure out, some more than others, and they are not as accurate as they could be, so note sheets for some parts would surly help a lot.
If it’s not too bothersome for you, you are welcome to write down the orchestra line up.

Hi, well…Champions of Earth is somewhat more interesting than the real title which is Cue 186 Battle - Thundercats in Control. The series one equivalent appears here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qt_uYgQgOpM&feature=related at 1:30 and is called Cue 61 Battle - Thundercats Winning. They both have the same purpose and represent the moment that the Thundercats have turned the tides on their opponents.
The Line up of the orchestra is:
Series One:
Drums, Bass, Guitar, Piano, Flute & Piccolo, 2x Reeds, Low Reeds, 3x Trumpets, 3x Horns, 2x Trombones, Bass Trombone, Tuba, Percussion, Synthesizer
Series Two:

Hope you don’t mind if I interject, but I believe Dave wrote a really good article about Bernie through an interview he did a while back. Bernie’s an awesome guy - had the pleasure of speaking to him myself and was nothing but cool.
You’ve done a splendid job with your adaptations motakay, the Thundercats OST is a desirable part of the franchise revival and thanks for rekindling it for us!

minute 4:57 starts Alluro’s theme which has an eerie and enigmatic tone matching perfectly to Alluro’s mind games and deceiving abilities. You could mix it up with Tygra’s theme, they both have the mind game element and that is obvious to some point at their themes too. I’ve played your Tygra version with Alluro’s back to back and it sounds pretty good, maybe if you would like to give it a shot Alluro’s music needs to speed up a little bit. Anyway, you know better than me what to do!
Also, i would be more than grateful if you would let me know how can i download your themes, i need to Listen while driving!!!:liono and break some records;)

Hi, yes indeed I’ve known Bernie for about ten years and have tried to help him locate some of his missing music. I have located the tracks and the music from both seasons of Thundercats are in existence. However, there is a large fee for transferring the tracks from 1/4 inch tape to digital. They are transferring their archives for preservation though, so hopefully they will get round to it one day at their own cost. At that point, they’ll run Bernie off a copy.
He’s a great guy and incredibly talented. My forthcoming book has a huge chapter about the music, featuring interviews with Bernie, the orchestra, and the music editors. It will also feature extracts from production documentation and a complete list of the cues from both series. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
