Short answer: “Hell yes!!!”
I might not have been crazy about the old LJN line, but I really like the look of the new figures. Plus their smaller size will make them easier to carry around, display and store. I think Bandai’s got the right idea on this one.
Slithor and I didn’t have much luck @ TRU so I checked Kmart’s site and there was at least 1 promising lead.
I picked up the deluxe sword and will be getting the classics as well. I really have no interest in the new figures but so far I do like the new cartoon.
I’ll warn you, a few of the local K-Mart’s apparently had them according to their website, but not a single store actually did. One of the ones I went to even said if we ordered it online for store pick up, they’d cancel the order so they wouldn’t have to look through the back. I’d call before you head there just to be safe.
I’m the guy who voted no (as of this posting). When I was a kid, I had all the Thundercats stuff, and I also collected a lot of Star Wars stuff over the years. I feel a bit burnt out regarding collecting anything. I suppose someone in my situation could buy a couple of things and give it to a holiday toy drive.

Wow, great response so far. I honestly wasn’t expecting this many people to back to toyline.
I gave myself some time to get used to the new toyline, but nope… i’ll think i stick to the original toys that breathes history and that was part of my childhood. :rolleyes:
For now I’ll only be collecting from the Classics line. I already ordered some 6 and 4 inch, but they are not worth the price they are charging, IMO.
I’m most excited about the new sword of omens! I’m looking forward to putting next to it’s 80’s equivalent.
I’m going to the states for a week in September to attend a conference in Anaheim convention center.
I want to pick up a few toys while I am there… Anyone who lives in the area who knows where I would be able to purchase them?
Also… how does it work there? Do these things go out of stock quickly to make room for the next hype or will I be able to find any in mid-september?
Thundercats will certainly still be on the shelves in September. The movie tie-ins (Tron, Green Lantern, Captain America, Thor, etc.) will probably start to phase out and the Transformers Dark of the Moon sections could potentially get smaller so shelf space won’t be an issue.
I caved in and picked up the Mezco Lion-O, I had not planned on it but I could not resist.
We are finally getting the revival we deserve, and I will take full advantage of it.
I’d like to if I could find them. 
We found a couple. But my daughter and I are trying to find Cheetara and the Kits. No luck yet.
I’m one of those who don’t understand the thing about buying toys. If there was an actual statue of Lion-O i would get it. But a toy..? Don’t you play with those?
Still i don’t mind people having them. Recently i find it fun to watch this guys toy reviews. An old guy which makes toy reviews, it’s so crazy but still fun!
Some toys are made as collectible items 
So in a sense, no, not all toys are released with intention of ‘play’ in mind.
Well I’m not sure people need other fans permission to collect them 
I’m not sure what this guys age has to do with whether fans will buy the ThunderCats toys or not? Please keep the thread on topic please

Just to add to this, I know lots of folks who actually collect toys (whether intended for kids or not) as collectible items - from people like myself who collect action figure to people who collect dolls, teddy bears, diecast cars and other vehicles, toy railways, or whatever.
The market for adult collectors in all types of toys is pretty huge, and many items like dolls and bears (and yes, even action figures!) are produced in limited editions and suchlike specifically with this market in mind.
A lot of children of the 1980s have developed a lifelong passion for collecting posable action figure, and these forums are chock full to bursting with them!

Absolutely 100% agree with this. I feel like I can acquire what I could not have back then, as an adult I don’t have to wait until Christmas.
I can’t put my finger on exactly why our generation is as passionate and collect as we do.

I love collecting action figures because I can pose them and look at them and in so doing lose my imagination in them - just having something completely three-dimensional that I can pick up and pose and for a moment escape the stresses and strains of day-to-day life!
With the awesome, detailed sculpts we’re getting with a lot of today’s modern lines, this becomes even easier for me!
…And just to add, you guys have no idea how excited I’ll be once I’m able to pick up one of the new ThunderCats figures and experience that feeling with these - it’s been a very, very long wait but I’m so excited that ThunderCats are finally back!!

I’ve never bought toys since I was a kid… but after reading around a bit in this community I realized it just might be my thing.
I’ve never really cared for crystal bowls, glassware, vases, flowers and other memorabilia junk, so my shelf space is kind of barren. (While I do own such items I keep most of them in drawers since they only collect dust and don’t give me anything in return).
Then I realized that action figures do have a great sentimental place in my heart, so I figured, why the hell not? If it makes me happy to see an action figure on my desk, then why should I use the space for an Orrefors vase just because people expect it?
Often when I look at the paintings on my wall I feel like I’ve sold myself out… I’d much rather have a poster from a movie I thoroughly enjoyed or a scene from a paradise I’ve visited or dreamed about going to. Yet I have conformed to the adult way and purchased some dull paintings.
While I do realize that there are lots of people who truly appreciates above mentioned art forms, I am surely not one of them. If I go into a normal house with some paintings I wouldn’t even notice them on the wall.
However if I were to walk into one of the homes of the collectors I have seen on this forum I could just spend hours looking through all the cool figures and compliment them on their purchase.
I think I’ve just realized that I need to stop acting my age and do what I enjoy. When I got my SDCC Lion-O the other day I spent a few hours fidgeting with it, and that’s more time than I’ve ever spent appreciating any of my other shelf warmers.
While I do realize that there are people I know who would scorn such items on display, my friends surely would not, and I guess that in the end those are the people I share memories and values with.
So for now I will buy myself some toys and make a home for me… Not for someone else. I just wish I had the skill to build some cool environments to put the figures in. Maybe that would be a fun hobby for me to take up.
Thus my point is - I think more people should adorn their houses based on their passions, whether it be gnomes, airplanes or action figures. I should be able to point to every adornment in a house and get an interesting story instead of the answer “Oh that… I don’t know… I guess I bought it in a shop somewhere.”.
At least I know that if someone were to point at that SDCC figure standing in my shelf now I could go on for ages about the old series, the new series, childhood memories and all the things I’ve learned in this forum.
However if people were to ask me about my painting on the wall, I wouldn’t even have one minute of interesting material… so little do I care about it.
